Slut?
Winter narrowed her eyes and glanced up at Suzy. Suzy shrugged and mouthed, "Janet."
If Winter had not known it was her, she might have kept a civil tone.
Nonetheless, Janet's rude attitude and choice of words only fueled her anger further. Coupled with everything Janet had done to suppress her before, Winter felt a mix of old and new grudges bubbling up. There was no way she would let this go.
"So, it's you, Ms. Baker. What's the matter? What do you want with me?" Winter sneered.
"Why do you have so much free time, Ms. Baker? Shouldn't you be chatting with Mr. Hoffman? Oh, wait, I get it—you probably can't see him even if you want to right now, can you?"
Winter laughed as she spoke, a laugh that only seemed to further provoke Janet's anger.
"You filthy slut," Janet spat out. "Don't get too full of yourself. Let me tell you, do you really think Charles truly likes you? Stop dreaming. I'm warning you, stay away from him, or I won't be so kind!"
"Oh? And what exactly do you plan to do to me?" Winter's tone remained icy. "You know, Ms. Baker, you're quite amusing. Do you always lose your mind whenever you see Mr. Hoffman with another woman? That's a bad habit.
"Whether or not Mr. Hoffman and I have something going on, it's none of your business. Oh, if I'm not mistaken, aren't you supposed to be Mr. Hoffman's cousin? Tsk, imagine if the media caught wind of you having feelings for your cousin. What do you think would happen?"
"You wouldn't dare, you wretched woman!"
"Oh, wouldn't I?" Winter's eyes glinted with a sharpness. "Here's a word of advice, Ms. Baker. My family, the Shaws, might not be as powerful as the Bakers, but this is Brookville, not Capiton.
