A knock interrupted Milo's pacing. "Who's there?"
"Mr. Baker, I'm Ronald, Mr. Hoffman's assistant."
Ronald?
With a squint, Milo opened the door to find Ronald grinning at him. "Mr. Baker, Mr. Hoffman asked me to take you to Ms. Baker today. Your daughter's doing well in the hospital!"
Milo's face fell upon hearing the news.
Janet was in the hospital, but every time he tried to see her, she was just out of reach.
Charles was known to have clout that could reach the heavens, but the extent of his power still came as a shock. He had even managed to get the hospital under his control.
Little did anyone realize that the hospital was Sean's domain, and Sean was king in his territory.
Ronald escorted Milo to the hospital, a standalone structure that was usually deserted, frequented only by the rich seeking its private wards.
Ronald said at the ward entrance, "We're at Ms. Baker's room now. Mr. Baker, you might want to brace yourself..." His warning was cut short by a blood-curdling scream from inside. It sounded gut-wrenching.
The screams were accompanied by the sound of objects being hurled and smashed. To those unable to see from the outside, the noises alone were enough to send shivers down their spines.
