"It's good that you understand," Xylos said, patting Jack's hand. "I'm tired. It's been a while since you've been back, so go get some rest. I had the butler prepare your room."
"Alright. You take care and rest well."
After Jack left, Lance entered to give Xylos his medicine but hesitated.
Xylos glanced at him. "You want to ask why I sidelined Peter, don't you?"
Lance froze, saying, "I wouldn't dare."
Xylos let out a cold laugh. "Peter is too headstrong. If I don't keep him in check, he could end up taking all control over Lennon Group. He… Well, he certainly is a capable leader."
"Then why not allow Mr. Peter to inherit the Lennons' legacy? The head of the Lennons has always been someone exceptional, and Mr. Peter… He'd surely expand Lennon Group and elevate the Lennons' name."
Xylos sighed deeply. "Yes, but his methods are ruthless. With him in charge, Jack and Jamie wouldn't stand a chance."
Shaking his head, he added, "There's no point explaining further. I just hope Jack can move past old grudges and manage Lennon Group wisely."
"And Mr. Peter?"
"Peter? Let him cool off for a while."
...
"Mr. Lennon, your grandfather has issued orders. Your Uncle Jack will fully take over your duties and position," Lareal reported carefully, fearing any wrong word might offend his formidable boss.
Peter narrowed his eyes, glancing at Lareal. "They're sidelining me?"
Lareal nodded. "This is news directly from our informants at the Lennons'. Your grandfather said so himself."
"Got it." Peter waved it off, seeming indifferent.
