The Day His Demands Broke My Water novel Chapter 27

"So, Emily Grayson, go ahead and have someone investigate. I'm always ready. Soon, you'll find that the company's profits aren't enough to pay the accountants' fees!"

He looked at me smugly, every word dripping with disdain.

This ungrateful dog of a man!

When he first interned at my father's company, he didn't stand out at all and had no chance of staying.

It was when I went to visit my dad that he and I had a fateful encounter.

My father saw how much I liked him and arranged for him to take on a good position.

Later, he promoted him without hesitation to become the department head.

When I insisted on marrying him, my mom disagreed, but it was my father who convinced her. He said that my happiness was their greatest joy.

He treated Kingsley Rowen like his own son, personally teaching him many things that would serve him for life.

When we got married, my parents bought a villa under Kingsley Rowen's name for our wedding, to save face for him.

They even convinced me to bring my parents-in-law from the countryside to live in the city in comfort.

Not long after my mom passed away from cancer, my dad also passed away.

Before they died, both of them tearfully asked Kingsley Rowen to love me well.

At the time, he agreed so readily, but once Madeline Johanson appeared, he became utterly heartless.

He began traveling more frequently, always going to meet Madeline Johanson in secret.

Later, he started to leave me alone and took our two daughters to visit Madeline Johanson, trying to get them closer to her.

"Emily Grayson, the company your father left behind was a complete mess. I've already done enough by not letting it sink into massive debt.

If you want to blame someone, blame yourself.

You're a bad luck star, you don't have the fortune to support a man!"

“You wouldn't want the girls, would you? The company's profits are so little, just consider it their support money!”

I curled my lips into a cold smile. “So, you want me to leave empty-handed?”

Madeline Johanson quickly chimed in, “If I were you, I'd be too embarrassed to fight for the property.

Someone's been managing the company for me, and I'd be grateful, not demanding anything more..."

Seeing her look of delight, I couldn't take it anymore. I slapped her hard across the face.

Instead of reflecting on yourself, you're obsessing over her, spying on her, and pretending to be nice to her.

You even invited her to go hiking, deliberately taking her to a place where the cameras couldn't see, and pushed her off a cliff.

You're so vicious and cruel—if Madeline wasn't so lucky, she would have died at your hands!"

"Shut up! You believe everything Emily Grayson says, but what evidence do you have?

When she came back, she pretended to be an innocent lily, but privately, she sent me countless humiliating and provocative messages.

Do you not know that? She says I pushed her off the cliff, but who saw it?

A woman who'd go as far as to sacrifice her own womb to get what she wants—don't you find her scary?

Are you really comfortable letting her stay around you and your daughters?"

Kingsley Rowen's face appeared calm, but a trace of panic flashed in his eyes.

"No, Madeline isn't like that..."

"She's not the one to decide what kind of person she is! Has she ever told you that she's not even single? She has a husband..."

Before I could finish my sentence, Madeline Johanson screamed and interrupted me.
