The Day His Demands Broke My Water novel Chapter 3

"Ivy, I didn't expect you to be so malicious. No wonder you had no reaction last night. You had already planned to deal with Eva, didn't you?"

"Come with me to the hospital and apologize to her. Do you know that Eva has depression? She tried to slit her wrists after you upset her.

Fortunately, I arrived in time to save her. Eva has a good heart. You ruined her career, and she doesn't blame you. She just wants you to apologize in person and clear her name."

Clear her name?

I couldn't help but laugh at Hector's words.

"Isn't it you, the person involved, who should know whether she's clear or not?"

But Hector didn't give me a chance to speak. He dragged me to the hospital.

Eva was lying in the hospital bed, her hands bandaged, looking as weak as a sickly woman.

Outside the door, reporters swarmed in.

"Mrs. Lane, are the photos online real? Or did you fabricate them?"

"Mrs. Lane, is Miss Clarke really the mistress?"

When I was about to answer, Hector held my wrist tightly, leaning close to my ear, his voice barely audible.

The wound on my wrist hadn't healed, but I no longer felt the pain.

"Ivy, you should know what to say and what not to say."

I broke free from his grip and smiled sarcastically.

"Mr. Lane, don't worry. I'm here to clarify."

In front of the reporters, I bowed to Eva.

"Miss Clarke, I'm sorry, you are not the mistress. Last night, you were just here to discuss a collaboration with Mr. Lane. I was too malicious and intentionally uploaded a distorted photo of you and Mr. Lane, even hiring internet trolls to attack you on Twitter."

Then, I bowed again.

"Miss Clarke, from beginning to end, you and Mr. Lane were clean and innocent. It was I who was jealous and used dishonorable means to frame you. Please forgive me."

With each sentence I spoke, Eva's face turned paler.

A reporter spoke up in her defense.

"Mrs. Lane, your apology is not sincere at all. Just look at how frightened Miss Clarke is."

Eva, who had been worried about how to salvage her reputation after I exposed her, followed the reporter's cue and started pretending to have depression.

She curled up on the bed, her voice trembling like she was shaking with cold.

"I'm not the mistress, I'm not the mistress. I'm just Mr. Lane's admirer. If loving someone is wrong, then let me die..."

Hector, afraid that she would hurt herself, pulled her into his arms.

"Eva, loving someone is not wrong. Don't blame yourself."

He then looked at me, his eyes cold.
