The eighteenth year since I met Peter, he said he was going to propose to me.
I had carefully prepared a ring and set up the proposal scene.
But when I walked into the venue, I overheard Peter speaking with a smug tone:
"Didn't I say so? In just three days, Susan could definitely set up this proposal scene for me!"
The people around burst into laughter.
"It's so beautifully decorated, I guess Susan must have worked non-stop for three days to pull this off, hahaha."
"Peter, you're so bad, you're having Susan do all the hard work to propose to Linda, the campus goddess!"
"Peter, she wants to marry you so badly, she even set up the proposal herself, why don't you just let her have it, hahaha."
Peter let out a sarcastic laugh, "Let me propose to her? Does she even deserve that?"
But after I agreed to my fiance's proposal at the scene, Peter stood frozen, shocked.
After hearing the mockery from Peter and his group at the proposal venue, I stood frozen, unable to move forward, a familiar bitterness rising in my mouth.
Peter noticed me by accident, but instead of feeling guilty for being caught, he flashed a wide grin at me.
"Susan, why aren't you saying anything after coming in?"
Someone teased, "Of course, she's waiting for you to propose!"
Peter walked over and casually put his arm around me, innocently saying,
"You didn't really believe I was going to propose to you, did you?"
Before I could answer, others couldn't wait to mock me.
"Didn't she take it seriously? Look, she even wore a white dress for the occasion!"
"I'm dying of laughter, quick, quick, I'm going to post this clown online. She embarrasses herself like this every day, one more time won't matter!"
There were also some people cursing me out in frustration.
"Susan, you've been chasing after him for 18 years and you're still this
ungrateful. Didn't Peter say he'll never like you in this lifetime?"
"I really overestimated you! Peter has humiliated you so many times and you still fall for it! How low can you get?"
The person who was insulting me frowned and pulled out money from his pocket, handing it over to a few others who were laughing maliciously.
I knew what was happening. They were definitely betting on me again.
