“Sc*mbag? Tell me, just how am I one?” Jeremy asked with a frown.
Corinne was just about to answer his question when the phone in her pocket suddenly rang, causing her to lose her train of thought. She fished out the phone from her pocket and saw that the place where there should be a name was only a string of numbers.
However, she had a near photographic memory when it came to remembering numbers and could tell with a glance that it was Anya who was calling.
“Here, Mister, you take the call. It’s from your precious Anya.” She handed the phone to him and looked out of the window to give him some privacy.
Jeremy accepted the phone without looking at it and immediately rejected the call. “Corinne Carew, turn around and look at me,” he said sternly.
Corinne turned to look at him, her beautiful eyes filled with contempt. “And then what?”
Jeremy looked deeply into her eyes and started to explain, The reason I asked you to go to Lunar Century Manor that day was actually…”
The phone rang again. The ringtone kept playing and playing, which irritated Jeremy to no end.
Corinne raised an eyebrow. “Why don’t you pick up the call first? After all, she might be in an emergency.”
After thinking it over, Jeremy accepted the call and put it on speaker.
“Jeremy, are you home yet?” Anya’s soft and gentle voice came from the other side of the phone.
“Not yet. Is something the matter?”
“Lucas‘ car broke down on the Yonder Bridge. We’re stuck here at the moment, so can you come over and pick us up?” said Anya helplessly.
“What about Lucas‘ subordinates? Can’t he ask them to pick the two of you up?” Jeremy asked emotionlessly.

This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....

my heart breaks for melody, so many ups and downs, i shed a few tears when lucas walked by melody carrying thalia, and melody stayed quiet while watching them leave. i find myself getting into character as if im one. i dont remember ever feeling like that in any other books. im thankful the 10 chapters/day. waiting for the next 10...
