Avery, a young female secretary stood before Eugene Field in the deputy director’s office of the Inspection 

Bureau. 

“Mr. Field, there’s a situation in the interrogation hall. The suspects in the Brighton University scholarship fraud case, Robin and Joanna, whom you ordered to be investigated, have been brought in. But … Ms. Lopez was assaulted by Robin.” 

“What?” Eugene’s expression darkened as he mulled over the news. 

“Deploy the bureau’s anti–riot guards immediately. If Robin continues to resist arrest with violence, deal with him decisively. If necessary… you know what I mean.” 

“But the situation is … complicated,” Avery hesitated, her face reddening. 

Although she was still relatively new at the bureau, she knew Eugene’s ties to Tracy. 

Three years ago, when Eugene was still climbing the ranks, Tracy had been his assistant. 

“What do you mean?” Eugene ran his fingers over the few stray hairs on his head, instinctively trying to cover the glaring bald spot in the center. 

That dream of regaining his full head of hair had driven him for years, yet it remained unfulfilled.

gaze drifted to Avery’s nice figure before he asked, “Did someone put in a plea for Robin? I’ve emphasized time and again in meetings–our stance on criminals must be firm! 

“There will be zero tolerance for fraud and bribery in Joanna’s case. We’ll conduct a thorough investigation. Based on multiple informants‘ reports, Robin is the key player in this case. 

“Even before the inquiry began, I was convinced he was involved. If we don’t bring this arrogant man to justice, Brighton will never have peace!” 

“It’s not that … ” Avery hesitated, then finally spoke, “Robin has exposed Ms. Lopez’s past on the public display in the lobby.” 

Eugene stiffened. “Her past? That information should be in the archives. How did Robin get his hands on it?” 

Taking a deep breath, Avery clarified, “Mr. Field, it’s not her official records that Robin revealed–but her real background.” 

Eugene shot up from his chair as if it were on fire. “How did Robin obtain Tracy’s personal history?” His throat went dry. “How far has this gone?” 

Avery instinctively took a step back. “It’s already being broadcast in the lobby. 

“Robin said if you don’t come down and personally handle the situation–if you don’t give him and Joanna a proper explanation–he won’t just expose Ms. Lopez’s real background. He’ll also reveal yours and Mr. Hunt’s. 

“And if you still refuse to act, he’ll take it a step further–he’ll release everything online and let the whole internet witness the ‘glorious‘ trajectory of your careers. 

“Mr. Field, should we arrest them under the charge of violently resisting law enforcement? Will you handle

“I–I’ll take care of it myself!” Eugene instinctively smoothed his thinning hair. “Notify all departments- don’t disturb Mr. Reed!” 

As he made his way to the interrogation hall, his mind raced, searching for a solution. 

He never expected Robin to have dark information on them. If that were to go public, it would be catastrophic. 

His relationship with Tracy–and several other past entanglements–was still ongoing. If the director and senior leadership caught wind of his history, it would be irreversible. 

The leak had to be sealed immediately. 

At the same time, Eugene discreetly sent a message to his older brother, the head of the Fields. The problem had to be dealt with swiftly before it spiraled out of control. 

He was convinced that unpredictable individuals like Robin couldn’t be allowed to exist–otherwise, his entire family could be ruined. 

Eugene hurried into the hall, his eyes sweeping across the gathered staff and recently detained suspects, all of whom were fixated on the scrolling text on the screen. 

The atmosphere felt more like an audience captivated by a gripping urban thriller than a serious interrogation room. 

Eugene turned sharply to the law enforcement officers. “Shut down this unverified slander immediately!” Then, addressing the rest of the staff, he barked, “What are you all staring at? Get back to work!” 

But no one moved. The guards hesitated, especially after seeing two of their own already subdued. 

Many guards recognized exactly who Robin was. 

Many of the law enforcement officers in the Inspection Bureau were former special forces operatives, recruited from various military districts and placed into service. Those elite veterans, shaped by years of rigorous training and battlefield experience, held a deep respect for true strength and heroism. 

Robin smirked. “Fine. If you insist on shutting it down, I’ll just post everything online!” With a flick of his sleeve, he signaled the blue–uniformed guards to pause the broadcast. 

At that moment, Eugene’s name appeared on the screen, followed by a detailed list of his offshore assets. 

Eugene’s throat went dry as he swallowed nervously. 

“Uh… Robin.” After a brief internal struggle, he forced a smile and said, “I’ve heard you were once a general in the Special Operations Military Region. This might all be a misunderstanding. 

“How about this? Whether you or your sister were involved in any crime, we’ll set those charges aside for now. Let’s end things here today.
