After finishing her paperwork, Marrisa turned to Eugene with a challenging look. 

“I’ve entered my personal information. Well? Aren’t you going to lock me up?”

Robin, however, remained calm. With a faint smile, he reassured her, “No need. Marrisa can handle this herself.” 

Eugene felt his face grow hot with embarrassment. He never imagined that Marrisa, a woman he had dismissed as unimportant, would turn out to be a foreigner–one with ties to the elite Rogarios, no less. If they detained her, it would spell big trouble. 

After weighing his options, Eugene swallowed his pride and forced a smile, replacing his earlier contempt with an overly friendly expression. 

“Haha… This is just a misunderstanding, Mrs. Holt,” he chuckled awkwardly. 

A glance at Marrisa’s details confirmed everything. 

Trying to smooth things over, he added, “I enjoy cracking jokes. Locking up an esteemed international guest like you? That would be absurd. Please, have a seat.” 

Marrisa snatched back her identification, eyes flashing with anger. “I wasn’t joking!” 

She turned to Joanna, gently squeezing her hand. “Renee, I feel sorry for you. We’re not letting them get away with it today–not without proof!” 

Joanna sighed. “Marrisa, this is a lot of trouble for you.” 

Marrisa waved her off with a light laugh. “Trouble? Don’t be silly–we’re family. Robin put me in this mess, but if someone is trying to frame you, we can’t just sit back and do nothing! 

“Whoever is behind these accusations is up to no good, and I won’t stop until I expose them! No one is going to tarnish your name with their dirty schemes!” 

For a moment, Eugene was at a loss. He could use his authority to deal with Robin and Joanna, but Marrisa was a whole different challenge. 

Brenda, who had remained quiet the entire time, swept her gaze across the austere interrogation hall of the Inspection Bureau. A heavy thought settled in her mind. 

“Robin, ever since I started at Brighton University, I’ve come to realize something deeply unsettling,” she said. “Why is there such a huge gap between the things I’ve been taught my whole life and the reality I see 

now? 

“I remember Mr. Field giving a lecture at Brighton about serving the people, with Ms. Lopez by his side. At the time, his words moved me–I even felt inspired. 

“But looking back now, I see how foolish I was. Everything he said was a lie. They’re the real villains. 

“They’ve spent so much effort preaching about honesty, kindness, and righteousness, urging us to strive for a better world. But now I understand their true intent.

Robin gently ruffled Brenda’s hair and shook his head with a wry smile. “So reality has opened your eyes, and even Marrisa, who usually avoids conflict, is now using her strengths to push back. I never thought I’d see this day. 

“Just how vile must someone be to force this kind of change in you two…” 

Before he could finish, a sharp ringtone pierced the heavy silence in the hall. 

Eugene scowled, annoyed by the interruption, and instinctively reached for his phone, ready to silence it. But the name on the screen made his breath hitched–Micah Reed, the director of the Inspection Bureau. 

Quickly regaining his composure, he turned to Marrisa with an apologetic bow. “Excuse me, Mrs. Holt, I… I need to take this call.” 

Answering in a hurried tone, he said, “Good evening, Mr. Reed. It’s quite late. Is there something urgent?” 

A furious voice exploded from the other end of the line. “Eugene, what the hell are you doing? I just got a call from the Brighton University Funding Foundation. They claim you’ve detained Joanna–the sister of a former Special Operations Military Region commander. Is this true?” 

Eugene felt a chill run down his spine. He hadn’t expected Joanna’s background to be that complicated. 

Micah continued, “Do you have any idea what kind of mess you’ve made? The higher–ups have repeatedly stressed that the Inspection Bureau exists to serve the people. Every case must be handled with extreme 

caution! 

“Using force and resorting to aggressive tactics while enforcing the law will have severe social repercussions for those involved. 

“Such actions will tarnish the Inspection Bureau’s reputation in the eyes of the public! 

“I’ve emphasized repeatedly in management meetings that we can’t rely on assumptions or personal biases when handling cases. We must humble ourselves and consider situations from the other party’s perspective. 

“I’ve already looked into the matter. Joanna received a substantial scholarship while studying at Brighton University–an aid package that Robin and Mrs. Holt arranged through negotiations with Brighton University. 

“All these accusations of bribery and illegal dealings? Completely fabricated! You’re stirring up unnecessary trouble! Release them now! 

“You’re to issue a public apology in writing on the Inspection Bureau’s official notice board, acknowledging your mistakes to the affected parties. 

“If you refuse, then prepare to face an internal review by the Anti–Corruption Division! 

“Also, Wesson and Tracy are suspected of misconduct. You’ll personally take charge of the investigation. Every individual linked to this case will be thoroughly examined–no exceptions! 

“If there is even the slightest sign of favoritism or cover–ups, you’ll bear the same consequences as the guilty! 

“How can we expect the public to trust that we stand for justice if our officials lack integrity? We can’t
