Eric stood there motionless.
His pride would not allow him to keep a woman who had nothing to do with him.
Moreover, there was an ambiguous tension between them.
Eric could not see through his own heart, nor could he see through hers.
Thus, he dared not take a step forward.
That was because he could not promise that he would give her everything as his wife.
Eric was helpless.
He stood there like a sculpture, cold and stiff.
Then, he heard the car engine downstairs.
Selena had probably asked the driver to take her home. With her temper, Selena had already gotten the servants to listen to her only after a few days here.
Eric pursed his lips. His eyes gradually became indifferent.
......
In the bar, there was no one there during the day. Thus, when Selena went back, no one was around.
At last, she was back on her own turf and did not need to walk around eggshells anymore.
Selena went upstairs, threw her things there, and went back downstairs.
She was not angry because of Eric’s words.
There was no need for her to do so.
She just suddenly remembered her unpleasant past and did not want to brush it off as if nothing had happened.
Selena could not pretend that she did not hear it.
She did not want to endure the sadness, so she just came back.
It had nothing to do with Eric, and her past suffering was not caused by him.
Selena wandered the streets alone.
She had no friends or relatives.
She was all alone.
Unknowingly, Selena walked to the gate of a middle school. The children were running around and screaming loudly inside.
They were childish, pure, and hopeful.
It brought back a lot of memories for her.
At least, before she was 18 years old, her grandfather had protected her well. Thus, she did not encounter any bullies in school.
The school was not open to the public. Selena leaned on the railing next to her and watched the children run around.
The breeze blew through the leaves and brushed over her face, bringing a wave of coolness.
Her mood inexplicably improved.
After watching the children for a while, Selena felt a little cold. She shrank her neck and planned to find a place to eat.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was Zachary Salvatore.
Selena paused and picked it up anyway.
The other party chuckled lightly.
“Selena, what are you doing stalking children? Did you like what you saw?”
Startled, Selena quickly looked around and finally saw the man in blue overalls walking toward her.
Selena was dumbfounded and speechless.
It was such a small world!
Zachary’s body in those overalls was perfect. From a distance, he was a hundred times better than any male model. Upon closer look, his face was youthful, gentle, and impeccably stunning.
He approached her and raised his eyebrows.
“Selena, I didn’t know you were in such a good mood to come here. I called you before, and you said you weren’t free and kept postponing our dinner. If you want to reject me, just say so! It’s not the first time you’ve rejected me anyway.”
Selena paused and glanced at Zachary’s calm eyes.
She felt a little embarrassed.
“Zachary, do I look like such a stingy person? I was really busy this past week and just came back, so I came out to get some air.”
Look, Eric was guarding against her in every possible way, but there was such a handsome young hunk in front of her who was always thinking about her.
Selena felt satisfied and proud.
Zachary smiled lightly and pointed inside.
“Wanna come in?”
Selena hesitated. “I tried just now, but they won’t let me in.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Divorced Billionaire Heiress
I liked this book and wanted to read it. As I have moved into the chapters, I have found that it is unreadable due to typographical errors, including sentences that are incomplete, complete gibberish, missing elements. This is not just some misspelled words. It is actually unreadable. If you decide to fix this, let me know and I will read it....
