After parting ways with Bella, Justin stared out the car window into the dark night, his brows tightly furrowed.
“What did you say? Clarice Amaryllis is actually Rosalind Gold?!” Ian slammed on the brakes. He reacted as if he had been struck by lightning.
The Maybach jolted violently. Caught off guard, Justin’s tall body lurched forward, nearly hitting the seat in front.
“Do you not know Rosalind Gold, or do you not know Clarice Amaryllis? Haven’t you seen all kinds of storms before? So why are you having such a large reaction?”
Justin sat upright again, casually tugging his tie, though his heart was in turmoil.
“I know both women, but the thought of them being the same person makes me shudder!” Ian slammed the steering wheel in anger, accidentally setting off the horn. “Is she a curse that’s fated to bring you bad luck? She haunts you like a ghost! Should I get a priest to perform an exorcism or cleansing ritual?”
Justin’s eyes dimmed, his voice hoarse. “In the end, I have no one to blame but myself because I’m the reason for Clarice’s existence.”
Memories flashed before his eyes like a silent, dark film.
He recalled the many entanglements between him and Bella when Rosalind Gold was still by his side.
Scene after scene of cruel memories flashed past, the sharp fragments stabbing at his chest again and again.
Momentarily dazed, Justin instinctively clutched his chest, pressing hard as his heavy heartbeat thudded painfully against his ribs.
“Mr. Salvador, don’t say that. You were deceived by that vicious woman. You’re also a victim!” Ian suddenly asked, “But how did you find out that Clarice Amaryllis is Rosalind Gold?”
Justin’s thin lips parted. “It was Bella. She noticed something unusual.”
Ian’s puzzled expression turned to one of admiration. “How did Ms. Thompson figure it out?!”
“A person can change their appearance and voice, but their behaviors and habits are ingrained in their bones, unconsciously revealing themselves. It’s hard to change completely.”
A flash of light passed through Justin’s cold eyes, showing a hint of admiration for Bella. “She had been quietly observing Clarice for a long time. Once she was 80% certain, she secretly did a DNA test, confirming they are the same person.”
Ian sighed deeply as he lamented. “Honestly, sometimes I think Ms. Thompson came into this world just to save you. If it weren’t for Ms. Thompson... Sigh, I don’t even dare to imagine the outcome!”
Justin said nothing. He just felt an empty void in his chest, one that nothing seemed to fill.
Ian asked, “Now that you know, what do you plan to do about Clarice Amaryllis?”
“For now, I’ll just watch what she does. It’ll only alert her if I expose her now, and she may show her true colors and retaliate even harder.” Justin’s gaze grew deep. “I’m not afraid of her revenge. In fact, I wish she’d make a move right away. I’m just afraid...”
He fell into a long silence.
Ian took a deep breath and nodded firmly. “Understood. I’ll keep a close eye on her and report to you immediately if anything happens!”
