As they were walking, Mirabella glanced around and asked the professor leading the way, "Is this the way to the admin office?"
Robert, who wasn’t really familiar with Riverside University, shot her a curious look. Why was she asking that out of the blue?
With her focus on the professor guiding them, Mirabella didn’t catch Robert’s silent question at first.
The professor, who happened to be Dr. Joen's assistant, turned slightly and gave a polite smile. "No, the admin office isn't this way. We're actually heading to the department office where our doctoral advisor will meet you personally."
"Our doctoral advisor?" Mirabella zeroed in on the important part. "Who would that be?"
"That’d be Dr. Joen," the assistant replied, his voice carrying a hint of pride when mentioning Joen.
Mirabella wasn’t fazed at all by the mention of Joen. She knew Summer's plan had been to bring her to Joen, though the plan had faltered because the substance hadn’t affected her.
"But wasn't the school supposed to explain something to my student? Why’s Dr. Joen involved?" Robert asked, clearly surprised since he knew of Joen's reputation.
"Well, you see, Summer is one of our doctoral advisor's students," the assistant explained briefly.
The teacher-student connection justified Joen’s direct involvement, making it seem normal while also showing respect to others involved.
Mirabella gave Joen's assistant a calm look.
The assistant kept walking, not offering more details.
Robert, keeping up with them, began whispering to Mirabella, filling her in on Dr. Joen’s impressive background, his voice filled with admiration for this giant in the scientific world.
Despite his enthusiasm, Mirabella remained unruffled, occasionally responding with a simple "Oh."
