Asa gave Santos a sidelong glance but kept quiet, his attention drifting to the main building of the Davis estate. The doors swung open as a handful of staff hustled in and out, moving things around.
Pausing to think for a moment, Asa turned back to Santos. "Seems like we picked the wrong time to drop by."
Santos raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh, really?"
"The Davis family looks like they're busy hosting other guests today," Asa said with a casual shrug.
Santos eyed Asa, trying to piece things together. "Do you think Leon has someone on the inside with the Davis family?"
Asa's eyes, a deep ocean blue, sparkled with amusement as he adjusted his sleeve nonchalantly. "Just a hunch," he replied.
Judging from what the butler mentioned and the flurry of activity at the entrance, it wasn’t hard to connect the dots. Plus, Jim's surprisingly laid-back attire for such a formal family meant he wasn't dressed to meet them specifically.
Santos glanced at the main building again, though he wasn't all that interested in the Davis family's affairs. "Well, at least we learned something today."
Understanding the link between Nellie and the Davis family was a useful card up their sleeve. With Cian's ties too, it was like everyone was caught in the same web of fate.
Santos let out a sly grin.
Asa's eyes landed on Santos's knee. "Got a bit carried away today, Mr. Santos?"
Santos’s face flickered with a mix of embarrassment and annoyance. Ever since he left the Stevenson family, apart from dealing with Cian, he hadn't been publicly slighted like this.
The Davis family definitely had a reputation that preceded them.
