Mirabella's eyes lifted slowly, her voice low and steady as she asked, "Hey, where are you, my friend?"
"I..." Blaze began, but something seemed to happen on his end. There was a sudden burst of noise, and then the line went silent.
Mirabella pulled the phone away from her ear, staring at the screen showing the call had ended. She tried to call back, but it was already switched off.
Frowning, she quickly dialed Grady's number. The phone barely rang before he picked up.
"Miss Mira."
Mirabella didn't waste time with pleasantries. "Uncle, I think my friend might be in trouble. Could you help me check if they're still at the hotel?"
She needed to get to the bottom of this.
Grady's tone shifted to serious immediately. "Alright, I'll call Reid right away."
"Thanks, Uncle."
After hanging up, Mirabella turned to James, who was still parked nearby. He rolled down the window and asked, "What's up?"
Mirabella's face was tense, a hint of something dangerous in her eyes. She glanced at James, her grip still firm on the phone. "My friend might be in a jam. He said someone's trying to get to me."
James knew how close Mirabella was to her friends. "Don't sweat it. If they're after you, they won't harm your friends until they find you."
Mirabella nodded as her phone buzzed again. It was Grady calling back.
