After the three of them finished dinner, they headed straight to the Central Tower. The Central Tower was where the Weapons Bureau held its trade exhibitions. Even though the headquarters wasn't there, it was a landmark everyone recognized.
The building’s exterior was designed to be bold and striking, especially at night when it was all lit up. The lightning-shaped emblem at the top gave off a fierce and powerful vibe. Cassie looked up at the building, eyes wide, like a country kid visiting the big city for the first time. He stood there, frozen, unable to move.
No wonder his sister used to sneak out all the time and then act like it was no big deal. In hindsight, it seemed a bit unfair!
Mirabella and James were walking ahead, but when they noticed Cassie lagging behind, Mirabella turned back, seeing him transfixed. She rubbed her temples, a bit amused.
“Want us to get you a chair so you can sit there and stare all night?”
James glanced back at Cassie too, but Wyatt came over to whisper something in his ear. He then turned to Mirabella, “I’ve got some stuff to handle. You two head up and wait for me.”
Mirabella, knowing how busy folks with money always seemed to be, waved him off with a smile. “Go on.”
James and Wyatt soon walked off together. Before leaving, James made sure someone would guide Mirabella and Cassie inside.
Cassie finally snapped out of it, rubbed his nose, and whispered to Mirabella, “Now I get why you used to sneak out all the time.”
Mirabella shot him a sidelong glance.
“If it were me, I’d want to stay out in the world too,” Cassie sighed, taking in the sights.
