As Reid called out, "Miss Mira," everyone in the room, including Jaime and several elders, turned their attention to Mirabella. Their expressions were a mix of surprise, curiosity, and appraisal. Jaime, in particular, seemed more intrigued by Mirabella than even the elders were. Just two days ago, he'd gone out of his way to visit the Davis family estate, only to find she wasn’t there.
Jaime squinted slightly, watching the young woman who stood unfazed despite the crowd. It was unexpected. He'd assumed she'd be a timid, inexperienced girl, freshly returned from the countryside, but she surprised him with her calm composure. Even Dr. Ray, a seasoned doctor in his sixties, couldn't match her serene demeanor. It was impressive.
Jaime toyed with his prayer beads, realizing he needed to dig deeper into this girl's background. Ignoring the curious stares from the others, Mirabella nodded slightly at Reid and asked, "What’s going on?"
Reid glanced at Mirabella, recalling Grady’s instructions before he left—to follow Miss Mira’s lead while he was away. He quietly explained the elders’ insistence on seeing Keir, without bothering to introduce them or Jaime.
After listening, Mirabella lifted her head and coolly scanned the elders and Jaime, sensing their hostility from the moment she stepped out of the elevator. It seemed like a classic move from the wealthy and powerful: "kick them while they’re down."
Mirabella sighed inwardly, confirming her belief that keeping a low profile was the only way to survive in this world. "Chester needs rest. He’s not seeing anyone. Just follow through on that," she said, her voice icy, not even bothering with formal greetings for the elders. The message was clear—do whatever it takes. Reid’s eyes brightened as he nodded, "Got it, Miss Mira!"
