Murray mulled over Jaime's last remark and said, "By the way, check if anything's up with the Davis family."
The secretary nodded, "I'll get right on it."
"Alright." Murray waved him off casually.
Meanwhile, back at the hospital.
In the hospital room, Mirabella was still busy with Jim, giving him a shot. It took about half an hour to finish up.
After checking his pulse and confirming that Chester's condition had stabilized, she finally felt a wave of relief.
She stepped out of the room.
Reid, who'd been waiting outside, rushed over as soon as he saw Mirabella, "Miss Mira."
Mirabella looked a bit worn out, but nothing too serious. She glanced down the hallway, "Everyone's gone?"
"Yeah, they're all out." Reid nodded, then asked, "When do you think Keir will wake up?"
"His injuries are pretty severe. Whether he wakes up or not depends on his willpower," Mirabella replied with a tired smile.
She could mend physical wounds, but those emotional scars buried deep were beyond her help.
Reid clenched his fists, "Keir's gonna make it."
"He will," Mirabella assured.
Reid relaxed his grip, then suddenly kneeled before Mirabella, eyes full of regret, "Miss Mira, I'm really sorry."
Mirabella was caught off guard.
Reid lowered his head, "When the council and Mr. Jaime were here, I shouldn't have put you in the spotlight, making you a target for their ridicule. That was my bad."
Miss Mira had done so much to save Keir, yet Reid's impulsive move to elevate her status in front of Jaime and the others had unwittingly thrown her into the family feud, potentially making her a target for their hidden plots.
