The Enchanting Doctor With a Bite novel Chapter 96

Samuel looked like he was going to snap at any moment.

Logan had zero interest in becoming collateral damage, especially when it came to something like this.

Misunderstandings weren't something that could be cleared up with a sentence or two, and between Kylie and Samuel, there wasn't even a sliver of trust to begin with.

Inside the car, Kylie sat by the window and silently watched the city blur past.

Suddenly, she turned and asked, "Why did you go to the prison and beat the driver up?"

Samuel casually replied, "It was an interrogation."

Then, almost like it was an afterthought, he chuckled. "I didn't expect the interrogation to backfire like that. You probably won't believe me, but some things can't be figured out by guessing. They need to be said. You're not a mind reader, and neither am I."

Ever since the forced marriage, things had been spiraling. It was absurd.

Samuel looked like he was in control, but in truth, he'd been pulled into Kylie's orbit—dragged along, constantly second-guessing and reacting.

Being manipulated was already bad enough, but being caught this off guard was a first in all 28 years of his life. And it sucked bad.

Kylie didn't respond to him. Instead, she stared straight ahead with an unreadable face.

Samuel didn't push her for a response either. He simply looked up at Logan behind the wheel and flatly ordered, "Take us back to Hythe Villa."

Immediately, Kylie cut in, "I need to go to the hospital. Logan, just drop me off by the curb."

Logan glanced in the rearview mirror, clearly torn.

Samuel's face was so cold it felt like the temperature inside the car had dropped by ten degrees.

"There are caregivers at the hospital," Samuel said, voice firm and overbearing. "You haven't had proper rest in days. Even if you're not sleeping, at least take a shower and pack some clean clothes."

Then, his tone shifted to one of sarcasm. "Unless you're planning to stink up the room to jolt Owen's sense of smell?"
