On the other hand, Neera had just finished her work and returned home. Osbert and Louis had been observing her all day. They were getting increasingly anxious when Neera showed no intention of fighting back.
After careful consideration, they decided to make an international call.
"Mr. Hanson, Neera is in trouble."
Osbert briefly explained the recent events of the past two days to Obadiah.
"Remember how much good Neera did overseas! How could she be as bad as the internet says?"
Louis said, "Mr. Hanson, I believe any piece of evidence, including her past achievements and contributions, should easily vindicate Nancy. People who spread baseless rumors are simply going too far."
"Exactly! It's disgusting! Especially Neera's family! They are simply going too far to drag Neera down! Such people deserve to be taught a lesson."
Obadiah felt heartbroken as he listened. I had never imagined that Neera would face such a problem. She used to be my best student!
Without hesitation, Obadiah agreed to help gather evidence.
...
Neera had no idea what was happening and received Isabella's call on her way home.
Isabella had been infuriated for the past two days.
Isabella said, "Neera, are you okay? Don't take those rumors seriously. They know nothing; they're just following others! Don't let these unworthy people get to you."
Neera spoke calmly, "Don't worry, I'm fine. I know what's going on."
Isabella was still deeply troubled and said, "I'm sorry, Neera."
Neera found it amusing and said, "Why are you apologizing to me?"
Isabella mumbled, "I just can't withstand the Garcia family’s behavior! I wanted to move Roxanne to another hospital, but my family wouldn’t let me do so. They say it would harm the hospital's reputation! They’re just a bunch of bastards!"
Neera reassured her, "It's okay; you don't have to do that. Your family is right; don't act impulsively. I will clear things up about this matter."
Neera continued to say, "Am I the type of person who suffers in silence?"
Isabella felt somewhat relieved and said, "You're right! I had only seen you take advantage of others, and no one had taken advantage of you in these past years."
Neera and Isabella chatted for a while before ending the call.
Then, Neera returned home and was comforted again by the triplets. Neera felt somewhat guilty and believed she had let them down. This time, it was I who had dragged the triplets into this mess. The thought of them being called illegitimate children hurt me deeply.
"I'm sorry; it's my fault for not protecting you," Neera said, embracing them.
The triplets seemed not to mind at all. They patted Neera’s back and comforted her.
"It's okay, Mommy. Don't blame yourself. It's those people's fault for spreading lies."
"And we're not illegitimate; we have a mommy and a daddy!"
"That's right; what they said is true! We have a complete family!"
These words had a hidden meaning, but Neera did not catch it. Neera felt heartbroken after seeing the triplets’ reaction. She sniffled and tried her best not to cry before them.
When Jean came home, he was stunned to see the four of them huddled together.
"What's going on?" Jean gently asked.
The triplets immediately let go of Neera and ran over to him.
"Uncle Jean, please comfort Mommy. She's feeling sad because of the rumors!"
Jean stared at Neera as he heard the triplets’ words.
Neera took a deep breath and said, "Welcome back. I’m not sad; don’t listen to them."
Neera tried to remain calm but failed and almost burst into tears.
Jean saw her expression, and without saying anything, he took a few steps over and hugged her.
Neera subconsciously looked up and said, "What are you doing?"
Neera’s voice was trembling.
"I'm not doing anything," Jean said while gently stroking Neera’s hair.
Neera felt a bit uncomfortable doing such a thing in front of the triplets. But she did not try to pull away. Neera finally lost her temper after two days of emotional turmoil. I said I did not care, but could I truly not care about such a thing happening?
Neera said while her voice trembled, "I can handle how they talk about me, but when they bring Adriana and the triplets into it... It's too much!" These were the people I cherished the most. I did not want to see them hurt because of me!
Jean gently said, "It's their fault; don't be sad. Tomorrow, I'll help you get revenge, okay?"
Neera sniffled and withdrew from his arms. She asked, "How do you plan to do that?"
Jean grinned and replied, "I'll go along with your plan. I knew you preferred waiting for the right moment and hitting them with the truth."
Neera nodded and said, "Yes, I have information on my side to prepare for the clarification. I also have information from abroad and proof of charity work. These pieces of evidence should be useful."
Unexpectedly, Jean replied, "I've already taken care of everything."
"You...?" Neera was surprised and said.
Jean looked at the triplets and said, "I've already talked to them about many things concerning you. From now on, you just need to watch."
Then, Jean said seriously, "Watch how I deal with the Garcia family."
