Chapter 125
aft came over to clear the table.
Alter Harvey left, the restaurant staff came
“Ms. Locke, here’s our restaurant’s app. You’re a premium member, so if you need anything, you can always contact us through the app.” арр
The staff member handed over a QR code and a promotional booklet. “This is our hotel’s brochure”
Madison scanned the QR code and took the booklet. She then signed her name on the worksheet.
After signing, she looked up at the female staff member who was cleaning up. “I have a talisman here. Do you want to buy it?”
Wanda Watson looked at her and pointed to herself in surprise. “A–Are you talking to me?”
Her colleague saw the situation and gave Wanda a sympathetic look while silently signaling to her.
Wanda forced a laugh. “Sure! What kind of talisman is it, and how much?”
After all, this job was all about serving the customer.
Madison replied calmly, “Two thousand dollars.”
it cost?”
“What?” Wanda was in the middle of bringing out her phone when her hand trembled. “Ms. Locke, how much did you say Madison repeated herself, “Two thousand dollars.” She passed her phone over and laid a simple yellow talisman paper on the table.. Wanda stared at the ordinary–looking piece of paper, her mouth twitching. With a pained expression, she transferred the money. After leaving Haven House and getting into the car, Wanda groaned as she pulled out her phone. “Two grand. That’s more than half a month’s salary. Isn’t she from the Locke family? Does she even need that two grand?”
Her colleague who was driving the car said, “In this line of work, we meet all sorts of people.”
Her colleague added in a gossipy tone, “You probably don’t know this, but Ms. Locke was only recently found and brought back into the family. It’s a typical soap opera story. Two lads were switched, and when they found her, she was living in a tiny rental, working four jobs.
“She probably hasn’t been able to adjust after being this wealthy all of a sudden, so the Locke family kicked her out. After all, she wasn’t raised by them. Their bond just isn’t strong enough.”
Wanda sighed after hearing Madison’s backstory.
“I guess it’s because she didn’t have money before, and that’s why she’s so prudent now.”
Wanda and her colleague returned to the hotel and continued their work.
They stayed busy all the way till 8:00 pm when they finally could change out of their uniforms and head home.
Wanda’s place was close to her workplace. It was just a ten–minute walk.
After she reached home, she took a shower and blow–dried her hair. Just then, her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number, so she didn’t answer and immediately hung up.
A few moments later, the phone rang again.
She took her phone and answered, “Hello”
There was no response. All she could hear was the faint crackling sound of static.
“Hello? If you’re not going to speak, then I’ll hang up.”
“Wanda Wanda, why haven’t you come to see me?”
