Chapter 263
Mia tugged at Yata’s sleeve, and
Yata followed her gaze to spot jessica and the others.
She immediately pulled Mia through the crowd, positioning themselves near Jessica.
Mary Scott’s voice was choked with emotion as she asked, “That scumbag will go to prison, right?”
Jessica nodded, her eyes also fixed on the building. “The things he posted online, along with the chat logs and photos, are all proof that he was inciting violence. I’ve talked to a lawyer. In cases like this, if the social impact is severe, the sentence won’t be light.”
Teats rolled down Mary’s face.
Beside her, Nadia watched her mother’s tear–streaked face, and guilt gnawed at her heart. How could she have once considered suicide for a piece of trash like him? How could she have ignored the mother who had worked so hard to give her an education?
What had she been thinking?
Suddenly, a commotion erupted in front of them.
“He’s out, be’s out!” someone shouted.
Everyone surged forward, craning their necks to see. Mary did the same, eyes locked on the scene.
Uniformed officers with grim expressions led Alex out, Cameras clicked and Hashed as Alex raised a hand to shield his face from the blinding lights.
“Scumbag!” someone shouted.
“Bastard!” another voice echoed.
“Jerk!” one woman yelled, her eyes blazing with fury.
“Alex, I never thought you’d be this kind of person!” a voice in the crowd cried out in disbelief.
Among the crowd were Alex’s ex–girlfriends, each of them victions of his manipulative games
It wasn’t until Nadia’s case went public that they recognized their own experiences for what they were—abuse.
ever seen
They had once believed that Alex loved them and that their own inadequacies were why they couldn’t keep him. They hadn’t realized that he had only ev them as disposable playthings, reveling in their helplessobedience.
Alex didn’t glance at the women. His gaze zeroed in on Jessica at the back of the crowd, and his face twisted with rage.. Jessica, you bitch! I won’t forgive you! When I get out, I’ll make you pay!”
Jessica remained serene, her expression gentle, showing no fear. She waved at him softly, her calm demeanor only intensifying his fury.
Alex tried to lunge forward but was shoved into the police car, lis head forced down as he was pressed into the seat.
Mary took a few steps after him before collapsing. She crouched down and sobbed, her cries heart–wrenching.
