Chapter 310
Madison swallowed her words.
The ward fell into a heavy silence. After a moment, she suddenly spoke up, “If you’re willing to help me investigate, I can stabilize your astral body for free.”
Sebastian looked at her.
“Your astral body is still unstable. Right now, my spiritual energy and talismans are the only things keeping it anchored in your body,” Madison said calmly. “If you help me with the investigation, I can stabilize your astral body at no cost.”
Sebastian smiled faintly. “If I remember correctly, all the spiritual energy you have now comes from my sacrifice of my feelings for you.”
Madison fell silent.
“Are you really trying to use your spiritual energy to trade with me, Madison? That doesn’t seem fair.”
Madison placed her hands on her knees and tightened her grip. She took a deep breath. “Sebastian, if you want to get better…”
“I’ll help you with the investigation, but in return, you can’t offer me something as simple as just stabilizing my astral body,” Sebastian said firmly. “You also need to agree to another condition.”
“What condition?”
“Find the person who harmed me.” Sebastian’s expression turned serious. “You mentioned that someone is after my astral body.”
Madison nodded.
“Track him down and whoever else is involved, and eliminate them.”
After a moment of consideration, Madison nodded again. “If I find them, I’ll take care of it.”
Sebastian extended his slender hand toward her. “Let’s work together!”
Madison also extended her hand. As soon as their hands met, Sebastian gently shook hers.
Even though he was the patient, the heat radiating from his palm was intense, and his grip was firm.
Madison felt the warmth from his palm and instinctively wanted to pull away, but he kept holding on. She stared at him in surprise, and he met her gaze calmly. Then, just a moment later, he released her hand.
“I’ll arrange for someone to investigate. Wait for my news.”
“Okay.” Madison withdrew her hand, gently clenching it into a fist. She could still feel the lingering warmth of his palm.
Sebastian lowered his gaze to the documents in his lap. “Is there anything else?”
“No.”
“I need to rest.”
“Alright.” Madison stood up, preparing to leave. As she reached the door, Sebastian called out, “Madison.”
His voice was low and steady, just like before.
Madison turned to look at him, her eyes filled with curiosity.
Sebastian glanced at her, then lowered his gaze again. “How did you get here?”
“Wanda drove me here.”
“Mm.”
After waiting for a moment without hearing anything else from Sebastian, she pushed open the door and left.
