Sacha said quietly, her voice filled with emotion, “I didn’t realize how wonderful it feels to have a daughter to talk with.”

Davina hesitated before her lips curved into a quiet, gentle grin.

It wasn’t too busy at this time of day, yet several people kept glancing at the corner booth near the windows.

Their eyes often landed on a girl in casual clothes, a cap pulled low over her face, a long ponytail falling behind her.

He accepted the card with an easy smile. “You really trust me that much?”

Davina’s eyes sparkled as she smirked. “I don’t second–guess the ones I put to work. But you should already know–crossing me has consequences.”

Caleb Johnston arched a brow, then tucked the card into his pocket.

“There’s a new film called Mythos that could use some funding, Davina said offhandedly, lifting her coffee and gently blowing on the steam.

“The entertainment industry?” Caleb asked, curious.

Davina gave a small nod. “Mm–hmm. I’ve got a part in it.”

“You playing the lead?” he asked.

“Just a side role. I’m on screen for maybe half a minute.”

Then, as if something clicked, Caleb asked, “Are you doing okay financially?”

Davina glanced up, her voice calm “The money will keep coming
