Chapter 100
He did not even bother when it came to forces like Crestwood. As long as he took down a few small gangs, he could proceed with the next part of his plan.
Although Stephen had given him some guns, ammunition, and a decent amount of money, it was not enough. He needed to swindle even more weapons and money from Stephen.
Once he had everything he needed, he would take all the money and weapons, flee Riveria, and head overseas! After that, he would not have to worry about Seaside City again and could live a peaceful life abroad for the rest of his days.
The next day, thanks to Howard, things were indeed starting to settle down in Seaside City.
Stephen saw that and nodded in satisfaction.
“Howard is doing a good job. It seems it wasn’t Ethan who brought peace to Seaside City, but rather him relying on Howard to maintain it. The real capable one is Howard. If we can hold out for another day, the main reinforcements will arrive tomorrow, and everything will be resolved.”
Stephen finally sighed in relief.
Although the incident had caused Seaside City’s GDP to drop from 1.8 trillion to 1.5 trillion, it would not decline further once the trouble was over.
Then, he just had to make Howard stay in Seaside City, and the city’s GDP would rise again. After all, Howard’s company was still around!
“Knock, knock.”
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
“Come in.”
The door to the office opened, and Howard entered. Stephen glanced up at him and froze for a second.
Howard looked rough. His hair was messy, and his clothes were filthy with some parts torn. However, what really caught Nathan’s eye were the bloodstains on Howard’s shirt!
“What happened to you?”
Howard said, “The enemy’s firepower was a lot stronger than we expected, so things got a bit rough.”
Stephen frowned. “Are you hurt?”
If something happened to Howard, it would be a huge loss to him
“Thanks to your leadership, I’m fine. However, I have bad news for you,”
Stephen’s stomach sank at the mention of bad news. “What is it?”
“Crestwood seems to know that the main reinforcements are arriving soon, so they’ve allied with other entities for a final push. Their firepower is overwhelming. With the resources I have, there’s no way we can hold them off.”
Stephen understood what was happening.
“You want more money and weapons?”
Howard nodded.
“I received news that Dennis is preparing to flee. As it stands now, I can’t stop him.”
Stephen panicked a little. He could not let Dennis escape!
That man had once captured him and was the main culprit behind all the problems in Seaside City. It would be a smear on Stephen’s reputation if he got away.
Besides, the memory of being tossed into a literal dumpster afterward was a humiliation he could never forget. If Dennis spread word of that, how could he face his family?
“You must catch him!” Stephen’s eyes darkened as an intense fury built inside him.
