Chapter 186
Simon was rendered speechless for a moment. There was nothing he could do about Ethan, and he could feel his blood pressure hike.
“Do you really think we can’t solve this without your help?”
“Then why are we having this conversation?” Ethan asked.
Simon’s fists clenched tightly.
Knowing there was no way he could win an argument against Ethan, he slammed his phone on the table and ended the call. He leaned back on his chair, his face ashened.
Just moments ago, he cursed at George for being useless, yet even he could not get through to Ethan, which made him useless too. He felt like he had been slapped in the face–his pride stung with embarrassment.
He quickly called for his assistant to get him his blood pressure pills.
Meanwhile, George stayed quiet for a while after the call ended. He was shocked that even Simon had failed to convince Ethan.
“Ethan, is it necessary to push things far? We know you’re upset, but maybe we cant compromise? Everyone gets hurt sometimes. We’re not kids anymore. We need to understand what’s right and what’s wrong.
“Let’s just fix the situation in Aqua City first, then we can sit down and talk it out.”
He believed Ethan refused to help because he was upset. The refusal was an act to gain more attention, like a child asking for his parent’s care.
Ethan looked at George as if he was an idiot.
“If thinking is the only difference between alive and dead, I really can’t tell if you’re dead or alive.”
George frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I live in the mountains. Had I not left my doors open, you people would’ve broken them down by now. So tell me, am I the one who can’t move on, or are you all just too Incompetent? To tell you the truth, I never cared about Riveria.”
If he never cared to begin with, why could he not move on? He may have governed Riveria before, but it was just to fulfill his mentor’s promise.
When the realization hit him, George staggered back in disbelief. He was shocked to learn that Ethan had never cared about Riveria. If Ethan never cared, how could there be talk of losses, grievances, or dissatisfaction?
Chapter 186
“If I can make Riveria prosper and thrive, I can also make other provinces better than Riveria. “From the start, it’s all been in your heads.”
George was silenced. He realized now that he had been wrong, and so was everyone else.
Ethan had no feelings for Riveria and had never loved Rachel.
They all thought by snatching the apple Ethan had worked so hard to grow, he would be angry and upset. However, what they failed to realize was that Ethan could grow an entire orchard of apple trees if he wanted!
While they were smugly holding onto their one stolen apple, Ethan could get as many apples as he wanted.
George could not bear to look at Ethan anymore. In fact, he could not bear to stay in the same room a moment longer.
“Let’s go.”
He quickly dragged Rachel away.
