The South Regent did not plan to explain himself either. He said, “In three days, I want to see a hundred billion. If there’s no money, you can take his body back.” 

The phone call ended. 

George fell on the couch, feeling drained and exhausted. 

The South Regent had joined the fray and was demanding a hundred billion, which was an astronomical figure. 

On top of that, Celestial City was facing another crisis as well–the departure of the major companies. The city’s GDP would decline with their absence, and following the abduction of Richard, fewer people would want to expand their businesses locally.

“What?!” Simon was furious. “The South Regent kidnapped someone in my province?! He must have a death wish!” 

They were merely some private militia outside the border. How dare they act so brazenly? 

“Hold on. I’ll call for a meeting now and come up with a solution.” 

Simon planned to send forces over and bombard them with missiles. Challenging him would be courting death. He ought to teach the South Regent a lesson that would not be forgotten. 

The meeting started. 

Simon said, “The forces beyond the border are acting up again. I am planning to send our men there to remove the threats.”

“Not really.” Someone explained, “The Grand Marshal had a student. When he passed away, his student took over and defeated the South Regent. After the loss, the South Regent even swore never to cross the border.” 

Simon was surprised. “Is this real?” 

“It is. Because of the Grand Marshal’s student, Riveria saw real peace, but no one knows where he is now. If we can find him, we might be able to fight back or make the South Regent surrender.” 

Simon’s eyes shone. He did not want to resolve things with conflict either as it would hurt the people and waste money.
