“I’m worried about that man. He saved me, but you guys hurt him.” 

The glasses guy sighed. “Fate is unpredictable. Worrying won’t change anything. Besides, the money our boss gave them is enough for the mother and daughter to live on for years. People die every day here. It’s a normal occurrence. Even if they hadn’t run into us today, they’d run into someone else. We desperately wish for Ethan’s arrival because it’s too chaotic here.” 

Andy found it harder to sleep. He never knew it was so dangerous here. It seemed like nobody here knew whether they would live to see tomorrow or fall victim to the next random attack. 

However, he still could not shake off the uneasiness. He felt like the glasses guy was just trying to justify their actions by saying the family would bump into someone else if not them. 

Just as Andy opened his mouth, about to argue, there was a loud bang. The car jolted violently as if it had been hit! 

Scarface shouted, “We’re under attack!” 

Andy had no idea what was happening, but the glasses guy on his left had pressed his head down. 

Almost at the same time, gunshots erupted outside, and the car windows were shattered. The man sitting on Andy’s right could not react in time so he was killed on the spot, his body slumping to the floor right in front of Andy. 

Andy’s eyes widened in shock. At that moment, he finally understood what the glasses guy meant. It was not just an excuse. This place was truly that dangerous. 

Scarface and his men picked up their weapons to fight back, the sound of gunshots intensifying. The glasses guy was also shooting at the enemy’s vehicles, but Andy could only crouch in the corner, pale–faced and trembling uncontrollably. 

He had always thought of himself as someone strong, but now he realized he was nothing more than a coward. While everyone was fighting for their lives, he hid in the corner, covering his head, too terrified to speak. 

“Boom!” 

A grenade went off, flipping a car ahead of them. Their own vehicle slammed into it and came to a sudden halt. 

“Get out of the car!” Scarface shouted. 

The glasses guy quickly pulled Andy out of the car. They ran for another ten meters before another deafening explosion went off behind them. 

The car they were in just now had been blown to pieces. The blast wave sent Andy tumbling to the ground, hitting the ground hard. Every bone in his body screaming in pain as if they had 

all shattered.

“Are you still alive?” Scarface dragged him and hid behind a huge rock by the roadside. 

Andy finally regained some clarity. He subconsciously glanced outside. In the darkness, many cars were on fire, smoke billowing in the night sky. 

He also saw many bodies–some were Scarface’s men, some were the enemies, and… the glasses guy, who was struck by shrapnel from the exploded car and died on the spot.
