Andy was expressionless. He felt no sympathy for Stephen’s current state. All of that was Stephen's own fault.
"I'll be leaving soon, so I won't sit down. Anyway, I'm short of money, so give me 20 million dollars."
The smile on Stephen's face immediately froze. Not a single word of concern but just a demand for 20 million dollars right off the bat from Andy cut Stephen deep.
"Why should I give it to you?" Stephen asked in a low voice.
Andy replied, "Let's not talk about how you almost killed me, but I know everything about what happened to Jeremy. You killed a hero and even destroyed the evidence. What do you think would happen if everyone were to learn the truth?"
Stephen's expression darkened. "You're blackmailing me."
"It depends on your decision. If you give me the money, things will be fine, but if you don't, then it won't be."
Andy was not scared of him. He was no longer the naive and clueless boy who used to call Stephen his good friend. He had been through enough for them to stand on equal ground now.
Even if Stephen did not want to give him the money, he still had a plan. All it would take was calling Jeremy in, and everything would come crashing down.
Stephen sighed. "I don't have that kind of money."
"You don't?" Andy laughed. "Your grandmother alone gifted you 300 million dollars on your birthday. Besides, you still have two villas in Heavens Estate."
Heavens Estate was a wealthy residential area, and the cheapest house there cost 800 thousand dollars per square meter.
Stephen stayed silent. He knew he could not fool Andy. They had grown up together and knew each other too well.
"Fine. 20 million dollars, right?" Stephen finally agreed.
Andy nodded. "I'll be leaving then."
His only goal for coming here was Stephen's money. Now that he had the money, there was no reason to stay, so Andy turned around and walked out.
Stephen watched Andy leave, feeling disappointed. He did not understand how their friendship had come to that.
"Sir, what are you doing?" Nolan grabbed Stephen firmly. "What's with you? Calm down."
"Let me go!" Stephen shook off Nolan's hand and ran to the corridor.
He quickly looked toward the elevator.
As the elevator's door opened, Jeremy heard the commotion coming from the ward and glanced over instinctively. At that moment, their eyes met.
Once Stephen saw Jeremy's face, he felt goosebumps all over his body. It was really Jeremy! He was still alive!
"Jeremy!" Stephen shouted frantically.
However, Jeremy calmly looked away and stepped into the elevator, which gradually closed.
"Wait for me!" Stephen shouted, wanting to run toward the elevator.
