However, Arnold was a military expert. The people here were no match for him.
The assistant had no choice but to wake Stephen up.
In the room, Arnold finally met Stephen and asked about the doubts that he had.
“I didn’t distort the truth. This is the truth.” Stephen could not admit to the first team’s crushing defeat. It was too humiliating, and he would have to face the consequences.
“As for their families, you can rest assured. I’ll give them 200 grand in compensation and acknowledge them as the families of heroes. Of course, I was giving the command when your team started the operation. The enemy was just too cunning. In addition, I’m already investigating the mole. It has nothing to do with you.”
Those questions deeply displeased Arnold. Stephen was shirking responsibility! His comrades sacrificed their lives, but they did not receive their due respect. He was so angry that he wanted to beat Stephen up.
Stephen yawned. “If there’s nothing else, you can leave. I want to rest.”
Arnold clenched his fists.
The assistant brought him out. As soon as they stepped out of the door, Arnold realized that the security guards were waiting for him with guns!
Nolan approached him with handcuffs. “Let’s take a walk.” Since Arnold forcibly barged in to meet Stephen and even beat people up, he would have to be brought in for questioning.
Arnold did not resist and simply held out his hands. He knew there was no escape.
As he cuffed Arnold, Nolan whispered, “I know how you feel. Stephen was sleeping when your team was fighting.”
Boom!
That truth struck Arnold like lightning. He was instantly frozen. While he and his comrades risked their lives in combat, Stephen was sleeping! Were their lives less important than his rest?
