The Guardian's Return (Ethan Rivers) novel Chapter 507

For example, they would target the other party’s friends and families or cause trouble in their daily lives to force them to compromise.

However, Simon could not figure out how to deal with Howard’s group. They were abroad and had both money and power. Sending assassins would not work, and it was not possible to dispatch a team either.

Simon took a deep breath. “Tell me what you want. Let’s negotiate properly.”

Howard remained calm. “There’s nothing to negotiate.” The only thing they wanted was Ethan’s freedom, but they all knew that Simon would never agree to it.

Simon said in a low voice, “A hundred million. I’ll give you a hundred million each.” It was a massive sum. Even Simon felt pained at the thought of forking out several hundred million at once.

Howard shook his head. “Even now, do you still think money can solve everything? Seeing you now reminds me of my past self.”

Before meeting Ethan, when he was involved in the underworld, he also thought that money and power were the most important.

However, after he met Ethan and watched many of his brothers die unwillingly and in despair, he realized he was wrong.

“To be honest, the Quinns are indeed extremely rich. Even if your entire family squandered money for the rest of your lives, you’ll never run out. You have wide connections and hold overwhelming influence. You could’ve used many methods to solve these problems.”

Before meeting Ethan, although Howard had a powerful force, he had numerous enemies and struggled to defend himself. His brothers were worried about the future, and many of his subordinates were pessimistic.

Even when he led fights against other factions and easily defeated their leaders, the situation did not improve.

During a heavy rainstorm, he lost to Dennis. Just as he was about to be killed by Dennis’s men, Ethan had appeared in their lives, holding an umbrella.

He still remembered the question Ethan asked after saving him.

“Do you know why you lost this time?”

Howard racked his brains. “We were ambushed, and Dennis allied with other forces.”

Even if they did not completely follow in Ethan’s footsteps, they could have learned at least a tenth of it. By then, even if Stephen made a mistake and outsiders criticized him, the people of Riveria would have defended him.

However, the Quinns did not use their money to improve the lives of the people of Riveria. Instead, it was to silence those who spoke the truth.

Howard sighed and said to Simon, “I think there’s nothing left for us to discuss. Let’s end it here.”

The call ended.

Simon stared at his phone in shock. Someone actually dared to hang up on him first? He slammed his palm on the table in anger. Now, there was only one person he could think of who could help.

Ethan!

He called Stephen and told him to head to Drakthorn Ridge to find Ethan. They would not ask for much. They just wanted Ethan to stay silent.
