Chapter 60 

The report of the situation continued through the speaker phone. 

“Based on our investigations, the ones who wreaked havoc across the city the other day had nothing to do with Ethan Rivers. They were all from the town of Lytton. 

“However, Eric, Shawn, Brandon, and the town have teamed up together, so they have been covering things up, shifting the blame onto Ethan.” 

George finally found out about the truth. 

“It wasn’t Ethan’s fault? He was framed? We’ve wrongly accused him?” 

Suddenly, the pieces started to fall into place. He understood why Ethan had targeted the three of them. It was because Ethan had known from the start that they were trouble. 

Both George and Stephen felt ashamed. The insults and things they had said to Ethan had come back to haunt them and bite them in the back. 

They had accused Ethan of being jealous of people with talent, claimed he was suppressing them out of spite, and thought they had found the brightest people like Shawn, Eric, and Brandon to lead North Hill City. What a joke! 

“Arrest them immediately!” George demanded. 

He could hardly breathe. 

“It’s too late. They’ve been missing for days, and the last anyone saw them was at the airport. They might have left the country. Besides, we don’t have enough men in North Hill Gity.” 

As the town of Lytton had allowed all sorts of dangerous people to swarm the streets of the city, all kinds of firearms and drugs flooded the streets. Gunfights had become all too 

common. 

“Thump!” 

George collapsed on the floor, looking helpless. His thoughts were blank, overwhelmed by the crushing reality. 

The city was done for. The culprits had escaped, and they had been the ones to put the wrong people to power. 

Zane scoffed. “I told you before. Without Ethan, Riveria is done for. Are you happy with what you’ve done? Let’s see how you’ll clean up this mess.” 

Then, he turned away and stormed out. 

Rachel stood by, watching as both men in the room were left stunned, unsure of what to do

Should she go to Ethan? If Ethan were her, he might be able to turn the situation around. 

“What now?” Stephen muttered. 

George snapped back to reality, realizing feeling helpless would not help the situation. Their priority would be controlling the situation and reporting it to the federal government. 

There was no hiding something that big, and it was unlikely that they could shift the blame because it had gone out of control. The federal government would investigate them, and once they were found shifting the blame, things would only get worse for them. 

George said, “Tell your father about the situation. You’re his son. No matter how angry he gets, he won’t disown you.” 

He dared not make the phone call as he was afraid of Simon.
