Chapter 66
Stephen could not bring himself to leave home either as the public condemned him and demanded answers.
The public even suspected he was in on it with Brandon’s party. Hence, instead of Ethan, Stephen was now the subject of mocking videos.
Before, Stephen would burst out laughing at those videos. However, all he had left now was tears, and Brandon, Ethan, and the others were the cause of his misery.
“I know you miss me, but don’t miss me too much. I’m having a blast now. I doubt I’d go back.”
With the 10 billion dollars he snagged, Brandon was living the high life. As beautiful women attended to him, he held a fine red wine in hand while his armed bodyguards stood on guard,
Stephen, too, knew that Brandon would never return. It was far–fetched to think Stephen could catch Brandon.
“Why did you lie to me?” Stephen asked dejectedly.
Brandon replied with a smile, “That’s an easy question. You’re gullible.”
The truth cut through Stephen like a knife, and it hurt worse than being lied to.
“Why? You did nothing when Ethan was in power for three years. Couldn’t you at least give me two good years?”
Stephen refused to face reality, blaming it all on luck.
Brandon sipped on his wine. “That’s another easy question. It’s because you’re nothing
like Ethan.
“I walked on eggshells in Ethan’s presence, afraid to cross him. However, I’ve played you like a fiddle. You don’t even come close to Ethan.”
Stephen felt a slap on his cheek and the urge to throw up when Brandon said he did not come close to Ethan.
“I know you won’t believe me, but something Ethan once said fits your situation now.”
The words left such a deep mark on Brandon that they still haunted him.
“If the capacity for thought is what separates the living from the dead, I can’t tell whether you’re just a headless body.”
Stephen’s mind went blank.
He was just called brainless, and he could not accept it. Ethan had used those very words

on Brandon, only for Brandon to do the same to him. Was he really inferior to Ethan?
“You’re lying.” Stephen took a deep breath and replied, “You’re trying to upset me as a distraction.”
“Believe whatever you want.” Brandon did not bother to explain himself. “I don’t care.”
Ethan’s prowess must have rubbed off on him somehow. Although he doubted he was up to Ethan’s level, he could play Stephen like a fiddle.
