Unable to keep to his feet, Stephen fell back on the sofa with a thud, his face pale. George, standing nearby, was also stunned. 

The loss of 300 billion dollars was a massive hit to North Hill City’s GDP. The GDP started at a trillion dollars, fell to 500 billion dollars, and was reduced to a further 200 billion dollars. 

The brain drain of locals, the increase of foreign workers, and the eviction of legitimate businesses could only lead to one thing: the city was done for. 

This time, North Hill City was utterly wrecked. While North Hill City struggled before, six years could have given it new life, but nothing could help North Hill City now. 

Otherwise, Riveria or the others would have to pour investment into the city to take the foreign workers out, attract businesses and factories, enhance security, keep tabs on inflation, and ensure the well–being of the people. North Hill City would need at least a decade or more to bounce back. 

Stephen was at a loss, and George found the situation tricky too. The issue was even worse than the problem Shawn and his party started. 

“I don’t get it. Danny looked so honest and kind. How could he do such a thing? I sounded him out. Why couldn’t I see him for who he was?” Stephen beat himself up. 

At that moment, the words he said to Ethan earlier came back to haunt him. 

“Your contribution to North Hill City is in the past. Everybody will only remember my name. I’ll be the one to save North Hill City and make the city great again.” 

Yet, the outcome was the opposite of what he wished. North Hill City was destroyed. 

With shaky hands, Stephen took out his phone and dialed Simon’s number. The call quickly 

connected. 

“What’s the matter?” Simon asked. 

“There had been an incident with North Hill City.” 

It took every ounce of Stephen’s energy to relay that message. 

Simon grimaced. “What’s up this time?” 

“Danny is trouble. He’s more savage than Shawn and the others. He has destroyed North Hill City.” 

As Stephen gave an account of what Danny did, dread washed over Simon. It was insane to think Danny was set out to destroy North Hill City.

Simon fell silent as his mind spun for solutions. 

In the end, he said, “Don’t panic. We should keep a level head in moments like this, “Get to North Hill City now, and bring a team with you. Keep the situation in the city under control. We’ll call for a meeting and take a moment to see where we are. 

Stephen got to it immediately as he could not afford to waste any time. 

With Simon putting together an emergency meeting, the people in the federal were startled to learn the state North Hill City was in.

“Things aren’t looking good at North Hill City. North Hill City’s GDP is last reported at 200 billion dollars. Without drastic measures, this number will keep falling to the millions.”

Everybody fell silent. North Hill City was a goner. Even the GDP of certain towns and villages was worth more than several million dollars. 

“We need to pour at least two trillion dollars to address the issues in North Hill City.” 

A shaky voice boomed. “Two trillion dollars?” 

North Hill City’s GDP was worth a trillion dollars before. Now, it would take double the amount to save the city. 

“Yes. Two trillion dollars is just a reserved estimate. We could be looking to spend a lot 

more. 

“Riveria’s target is hitting 20 trillion dollars in GDP, so now is not the time to spare 2 trillion dollars. The best foot forward is to give up on North Hill City for now. 

“Once Riveria’s GDP makes the mark, we can always turn our focus back on North Hill City.”
