The Heartbreak Prescription novel Chapter 980

Chapter 980

The medical staff brought over a first aid kit, and Halsey took it in her hands.

“I’ll do it.”

She opened the kit and carefully cleaned Shaun’s wound with a disinfected cotton swab. Luckily, the cut wasn’t deep-it was just a surface injury.

The rich heirs gathered around.

“Mr. Lane, today you really went all out for your lady.”

“Ms. Mallin, looks like Mr. Lane would do anything for you.’

Halsey glanced at Shaun’s handsome face. Did he still care about her?

Chelsea and Elise were burning with jealousy.

Elise couldn’t hold back her sarcastic tone. “Ms. Mallin, you must be proud now. You’re the reason Mr. Lane got hurt!”

Chelsea chimed in, “Ever since Shaun met you, he’s just kept getting hurt. I think you’re bad luck!”

Halsey opened her mouth to reply, but Shaun looked up and shot Chelsea and Elise a cold glare. His lips pressed tightly together in displeasure. “Who said you could speak?”

Chelsea’s face changed as she stepped forward and grabbed Shaun’s sleeve. “I’m just worried about you.”

Shaun calmly pulled his sleeve back. His expression was unreadable as he said, “Halsey is the mother of my baby. I won’t allow anyone to speak badly about her. Understand?”

Shaun’s words humiliated Chelsea in front of everyone. She froze, unable to respond.

“And you!” Shaun’s gaze shifted to Elise. “I hope you know your place. You’re just my secretary. You have no right to talk back to

me.”

Elise’s face went pale. “I—”

“If you can’t be a proper secretary, then don’t bother coming to work anymore.”

Elise’s heart sank. Tonight was supposed to be her big chance, but Halsey ruined everything and embarrassed her beyond

measure.

She shot Halsey an angry glare.

Shaun finished treating his wound and stood up. Looking at Halsey, he said, “It’s late. Let’s go home.”

Halsey nodded. “Okay.”

Shaun turned to Warren and said, “Take care of things here.”

The two drunken guys Shaun had beaten up were still lying on the ground. He gave them a quick kick. “I don’t ever want to see these two again.”

Warren nodded. “Don’t worry. I’ve got it.”
