The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 485

Hector blinked and reached out to tug Natalie's sleeve. "Nat, our parents sent me here to protect you. I can't let anything happen to you. No matter what you do, you have to bring me along."

"Connie." Natalie turned to look at Connie.

She immediately shook her head. "Ms. Walker, I didn't say anything. I swear."

"She didn't say anything. I was eavesdropping," Hector said, glancing at Connie.

She looked completely baffled. "Wait, when did you do that? How did I not notice?"

"If you noticed, it wouldn't be called eavesdropping, right?" Hector replied. "I said I overheard it, okay?"

"Ms. Walker…" Connie pouted, wanting to complain.

However, Natalie pressed a hand over her mouth. "Alright, that's enough. Since Hector knows, he'll accompany me.

"Connie, you should be more careful next time. Although there aren't any outsiders here at The Herbalist's Sanctuary, it's always better to be cautious."

"Yes, Ms. Walker."

After Natalie and Hector left, Connie was still standing there, wondering how Hector had managed to overhear her conversation.

Hector accompanied Natalie into the car. Both of them sat in the back seat, while Yolanda Yale took the wheel. Natalie pressed a button to lower the center partition, then pulled out her phone to show Hector.

"Hector, take a look."

"Sure."

Hector grabbed the phone and saw a relationship chart, connecting the Langleys, the Holdens, and the Walkers.

The individuals with connections were linked together, but there were some gaps and missing connections.

With just a glance, Hector understood her intent. "Nat, these blank spaces are missing key people and key events, right?"

"Exactly. I came to Amberton this time to investigate the matter of me being swapped at birth. Although Emma is in prison and Cindy's dead, I feel like this matter isn't as simple as it seems. If I don't get to the bottom of it, I'm afraid something bad might still happen."

Natalie leaned on the seat and continued, "Hector, Mr. Langton rarely mentions specific people, but he made a point to bring up Julie Lombard. I have a feeling she's important.

"Besides, he managed to find someone that Marcus couldn't. Don't you think it's strange? After all, ever since he handed The Herbalist's Sanctuary to Joshua and Goodwill Pharmacy to me, he's been traveling around and enjoying his life. He wouldn't get involved with much."

"Are you saying that Marcus getting drunk tonight wasn't a test, but something Mr. Langton deliberately arranged?" Hector asked.

Natalie nodded, then shook her head. "Maybe partly, but it could've been just a simple test. Also, Marcus didn't really seem drunk, which is why I made sure he was sound asleep."

Hector took a deep breath, unsure how to respond.

If Marcus was really pretending, he was great at scheming. But if he wasn't, as Natalie's brother, Hector couldn't help but feel sorry for him.

"Hector, don't worry. I won't do that to you." Natalie chuckled at Hector's conflicted expression. "I only gave him something to help him sleep. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

"Because of what happened to Laura, he's been struggling as well. Even if he didn't admit it, I know. After all, The Herbalist's Sanctuary is filled with my people," she explained.
