The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 499

After Hector finished speaking, Natalie, who had been making a call by the window, ended the conversation and returned to the table with her phone in hand.

"Hector, I've spoken to Mom." Natalie then looked at Grace. "Mrs. Langley Senior, my mother said she will never forgive you for the rest of her life. So any attempt to appeal to me emotionally is useless.

She added, "However, if you want to save Langley Group, I can give you a chance. You must truthfully confess the real purpose behind the child swap, the details of how it was carried out, and everyone involved.

"If you refuse, then whether it is Langley Group or your biological daughter, Megan, you can watch them both fall into ruin. This is your only chance. Think carefully before you answer."

After speaking, Natalie turned to Hector. "I'm hungry. Let's eat quickly. Then, I need to pick up Marcus. He has taken care of Laura and is on his way here."

Hector nodded. "Alright."

Because of Grace's words, he was in no mood to tease Natalie about Marcus.

With servers attending to them, Natalie didn't have to lift a finger while eating seafood. They finished their meal quickly, yet Grace remained silent.

"Since you don't wish to speak, then forget it." Natalie took a wet napkin and wiped her hands. "If you have concerns you can't talk about, we won't force you."

Grace remained dazed. Langley Group was already on the verge of collapse. It needed a new leader and a massive injection of funds.

She could no longer secure any investments, yet the person on that phone call continued to use Megan to threaten her. She knew almost nothing about that woman, let alone her true motives.

She hadn't lied to Hector, but he clearly didn't believe her. At that moment, Grace was suddenly overwhelmed with exhaustion and despair.

"Hector, let's go." After wiping her hands, Natalie stood up without looking back.

At a nearby table, Victor and his family saw Natalie and Hector leaving and quickly got up to follow. Soon, the once grand restaurant was left with only Grace and the servers.

One of them carefully asked, "Mrs. Langley Senior, are you alright?"

Grace snapped out of her daze, staring at the empty restaurant. After a long silence, she finally spoke. "Where is Natalie? Where is Selena and her family?"

"Mrs. Langley Senior, Ms. Walker, and Ms. Langley's family have already left."

"I see."

Grace staggered as she stood up. A wave of dizziness hit her, and everything went black as she collapsed to the ground.

"Mrs. Langley Senior! Mrs. Langley Senior!"

Just before she lost consciousness, she heard the anxious voices of the servers calling out to her.

Natalie and Hector left the restaurant and headed to the lobby. Not long after, Victor and his family caught up to them.

"Natalie, wait a moment," Selena called her name, jogging forward and pulling a notebook from her bag. "These are all the places I was taken to over the years and buyers who purchased me. I don't have the power or money to play the hero and rescue others.

"Surviving and escaping was already a gift from fate, but I know there are still many girls trapped in those places, suffering the same fate as I did."

Her eyes reddened as she spoke. She sniffled, but her tears fell uncontrollably.

"I resented you, believing you stole my life. I thought I was never meant to suffer like that. When I first returned, I saw how well you lived in the Langley family, and I couldn't accept it. I directed all my hatred and anger at you.
