The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 501

As Natalie spoke, her voice carried such a biting coldness that Yvonne felt an invisible hand tightening around her throat, silencing her completely.

"If you can't do as I wished, Yvonne, you'd better inform me early and just leave."

Natalie's voice, cold as ice, echoed in Yvonne's ears again. It took her a moment before she could muster the strength to speak.

"I understand, Ms. Walker. I'll make sure it's done right."

The moment Yvonne finished speaking, Natalie ended the call.

Grace was surrounded by police officers in the ward, ceaselessly firing questions at her.

"Mrs. Langley Senior, do you have a brother named Kenton Langley? Records show he wasn't listed under your household and didn't grow up with you. Can you tell us where is he now?"

"Mrs. Langley Senior, did you have Kenton take Selena away to be sold? Do you acknowledge this or deny it?"

"Grace Langley, you used Langley Group to conceal illegal activities at Kenton's hospital, including infant trafficking. Do you confess or deny it?"

"I deny it." Grace met the officers' gaze with a calm demeanor. "I have no idea who Kenton is, and I never arranged for Selena to be sold. She was taken by a nurse at the hospital—this has nothing to do with me.

"If you're going to interrogate me without proof, I hope you're ready for a lawsuit."

"You're denying Kenton's crimes, but don't tell me you have no idea who Julie Lombard is," the officer said as he stared at Grace. "Five minutes ago, Julie reported to the police department and handed over a DNA test confirming your connection to Kenton.

"The DNA test confirms that you and Kenton are indeed siblings, but he's nowhere to be found. And his hospital? It was the infamous Serenity Health Hospital in Amberton.

"A fire broke out at the hospital five years ago, killing five people, one of whom was identified as the hospital director, Kenton Langley. But according to Julie, he didn't actually die. He disappeared after the incident."

After a quick pause, the officer asked, "Grace Langley, were you responsible for the fire at Serenity Health Hospital five years ago?"

Grace's eyes widened for a second, then she let out a sarcastic chuckle. "You're questioning me without even completing your investigation? Here's my answer—I don't know what you're talking about."

"Does this mean you're refusing to cooperate, Grace Langley?"

"I have nothing to do with this, and I don't even know the people you're accusing me of knowing. What do you expect me to cooperate with?"

Grace pointed toward the door, irritation evident in her voice. "I'm not feeling well and need rest. If you want my cooperation, get your facts right, bring solid evidence, then arrest me. When that happens, I'll cooperate. Until then, direct your questions to my lawyer."

With that, she lay down and closed her eyes.

The officers shared a brief look before silently snapping the handcuffs onto Grace's wrists.

"If you won't cooperate, we have no choice but to take you in for questioning. From this moment on, every word you say will be documented as evidence."

Without hesitation, the officers hauled Grace up from the hospital bed and dragged her out.

With Julie as a witness and Kenton officially wanted, they weren't concerned about Grace's refusal to cooperate. The evidence would pry the truth from her one way or another.
