The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 578

"Hey! What do you two think you're doing?"

Natalie was still deep in thought when Mason stormed over. He grabbed Marcus by the collar with a glare fierce enough to set him on fire.

"Marcus, what's the meaning of this?" he snapped. "No proposal, no wedding ceremony, and you just want to drag Nat into City Hall? I'm telling you right now, I won't allow it!"

He jabbed a finger at Marcus' chest. "We barely even let you date her, and you haven't even properly proven yourself yet. Now you think you can just waltz in and marry her? Keep dreaming!"

Marcus remained silent.

At that moment, Olivia ran up to Natalie. "Nat, Mason said Marcus was taking you to City Hall, but I didn't believe him. Turns out, for once, he was right. Was Marcus trying to marry you?"

Natalie nodded. "Yeah. He even carries his birth certificate around. But… I haven't quite decided yet."

Olivia glanced at Mason and Marcus, who had moved a few steps away, now locked in what looked like a very intense, hushed argument.

"This is wild," Olivia mused. "Marcus is the one trying to get married, but Mason's the one having a meltdown."

"Right." Natalie nodded. "It's kind of hilarious. Olivia, let's go."

Without another word, she turned and got into the driver's seat.

Olivia hesitated for a second before quickly sliding into the passenger seat.

"Buckle up."

"Oh, okay." Olivia hurriedly clicked her seatbelt into place. The moment she did, Natalie started the engine and sped off.

Olivia was stunned.

A few feet away, Marcus was still standing there, calmly enduring Mason's outburst. Then, as if it was just another casual remark, he said, "Mason, Nat just drove off with Ms. Thatcher."

"What the hell are you talking about—" Mason turned and instantly screamed. Then, without another word, he took off running after the car.

"Nat! Olivia! Get back here!"

Marcus' driver hesitated for a moment before cautiously stepping forward. "Mr. Holden… Ms. Walker told me to get out of the car."

"I know." Marcus remained completely unfazed, his expression calm and unreadable. "We'll take Mason's car."

"Huh?" The driver blinked in confusion.

"You can call a cab to get back," Marcus said as he walked over to Mason's car. He casually opened the door and slid into the backseat. "Drive."

Ryan hesitated. "Mr. Holden, this… this doesn't seem appropriate."

"What's inappropriate about it?" Marcus shot him a sidelong glance. "Do you think your Mr. Mason even remembers he had come here by car?"

Ryan fell silent.

"Just drive. Go pick him up."

"Yes, Mr. Holden."

Without further argument, Ryan started the engine and headed in the direction Mason had sprinted off.

"Your Mr. Mason is a true athlete." As they closed the distance, Marcus watched Mason running full-speed ahead, his long strides eating up the pavement.

He smirked. "Nice legs."

Ryan remained silent.

Since when did Marcus get this sharp-tongued?

He honked as they caught up, then rolled down the window. "Mr. Mason, get in."

Mason turned his head and immediately saw Marcus sitting comfortably inside his car. His eyes widened in outrage. "Marcus, get the hell out! Why are you in my car?"

Marcus merely closed his eyes, completely ignoring the fuming athlete.

Ryan remained professional. "Mr. Mason, please get in. If we wait any longer, we'll lose track of Ms. Natalie and Ms. Thatcher."

Realizing Natalie's car was nowhere in sight, Mason clenched his jaw, yanked open the door, and climbed in—looking ready to fight.

Before he could get a word out, Marcus suddenly pulled out a chocolate bar and handed it to him. "Here, eat something sweet. Cool off a bit."

"You—" Mason had been all set to throw Marcus out of his car, but when he saw the chocolate was Natalie's favorite brand, he begrudgingly let it slide.
