The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 581

Natalie and Marcus stepped into the city hall. There weren't many people there applying for the marriage certificate. Instead, most of them were queuing up to collect the divorce decree.

On the television above the service counter, videos about marriage and divorce played in a continuous loop.

Natalie took a glance at the long line for divorce before turning to Marcus. "Marcus, do you think we'll ever end up standing in that line?"

"No," Marcus replied without hesitation. "We'll never get a divorce. I won't cheat, I won't be abusive, and I won't cross any lines I shouldn't."

"You're that confident, huh?" Natalie tilted her head at him. "A promise only works if the one making it keeps it. Otherwise, even if they are struck by lightning, it's still meaningless."

"Nat, don't you trust me?"

Marcus sighed, gripping her hand tightly. "I won't make any empty promises. I'll prove it with my actions."

Natalie chuckled. "Alright, let's go!"

There was no one queueing up at the marriage certificate counter, so they just took the photo, filled out the forms, and paid the fee. A while later, they received their marriage certificate.

Natalie looked at the marriage certificate. She and Marcus had taken a commemorative photo afterward. He looked handsome and she was beautiful. They were a striking pair.

"Mr. Holden, I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you," Natalie said with a smile as she held the marriage certificate in her hand.

Marcus stared at her affectionately and replied, "Mrs. Holden, I look forward to that too."

"Let's go! It's time for our date." Natalie carefully placed the marriage certificate in her bag. "From now on, I'll be the one keeping it safe."

"Alright."

A strange feeling washed over Marcus. Every now and then, he glanced at Natalie, feeling as if he were in a dream.

They were officially married.

This wasn't a dream nor was it a fantasy. They were truly married.

Mason and Olivia were waiting outside, but this time, he was holding a bouquet of fresh flowers in his hands.

Seeing them step out, Mason walked over and handed the flowers to Marcus. "Marcus, how could you take my sister to get married without even bringing her a bouquet?"

Marcus accepted the flowers and thanked him. "Thank you, Mason. That was my oversight."

"When you plan for the wedding, you better not be this careless!"

"I won't. Don't worry, Mason."

"Alright then! Let's go fishing. I brought all the gear, so let's not waste it."

"Alright."

Marcus held Natalie's hand, while Mason and Olivia walked side by side to their respective cars.

The four of them had already planned the outing in advance, but Marcus and Natalie getting a marriage certificate was a spontaneous decision.

Yet, what started as a whim had now become reality.

That marriage certificate had officially bound Marcus and Natalie together. From now on, they were husband and wife, as well as the most important person in each other's lives.

In the car, Marcus laced his fingers with Natalie's, stealing glances at her from time to time.

"Sweetheart."

Marcus' sudden address made Natalie freeze for a moment.

"Mrs. Holden."

Marcus tried another way to address her, his gaze filled with deep affection.

"Marcus, what's going on?" Natalie stared at him. "Are you not used to being my husband?"

"Not at all." Marcus' lips curved into a smile. He pulled her into his arms, wanting to hug her so tightly that he would crush her. "I just feel grateful and lucky. I nearly lost you."

Natalie let him hold her. "Did Mason say something to you in private?"
