Chapter 193 Bad Omen
“You may not know this, but Mr. Sutherland’s original fiancee was Raylee. But she turned out to be a fake heiress, while the current fiancée is the real one.”
Rumor has it that the real heiress was raised in the countryside and was only brought back four years ago. As soon as she returned, she entered into a marriage alliance with Mr. Sutherland.”
“She was raised in the countryside? That explains her rustic demeanor. I wonder what Mr. Sutherland likes about her.”
Waverly felt a wave of humiliation wash over her as the mocking voices grew louder. Embarrassed and uncomfortable, she wished she could vanish into thin air.
Casimir, noticing her distress, started to speak to comfort her but faltered, unsure of what to say.
Instead, he
e cast a sharp glare at the crowd and sternly commanded. “Shut up! That’s enough“”
He then turned to Samuel and said, “What kind of brother are you? How could you let this happen without stepping in! Waverly’s innocence may have kept her from seeing how cruel people can be, but how could you not see it? It’s unbelievable!”
Confronted with his scolding, Samuel found himself cornered, unable to justify his actions. Frustrated, he retorted with indignation, “How can you blame me when it’s clearly your assistant at fault? How could you have hired someone so quick to betray you? Enough, let’s stop pointing fingers. Wavy is caught up in this now. We’re in the dark, while our enemies remain in the light. Wavy is in real danger. We need to leave now.”
“You’re right. Leaving is the wisest choice.” Casimir agreed.
While the two were deep in conversation, Waverly, unable to endure the murmurs and gossip around her, ran off in tears.
She found herself in the banquet hall, where Tiffany’s assistant and a few servers were carefully wheeling in an extravagant eight–tiered cake.
“Ah!” she exclaimed as someone bumped into her, causing her to stumble directly into the towering cake.
In an instant, the magnificent creation collapsed, along with the red wine on the dining cart. The cake and the wine ended up in a chaotic heap on the floor.
