Chapter 21 Blind Date
“What’s happening?”
Everyone was left dumbfounded, frozen in place, unsure of what to do.
“… Ill take you to the hospital”
Regaining his composure, Samuel crouched down, intending to lift Raylee into his arms.
However, he ended up with nothing in his embrace,
Raylee clutched her chest, gradually straightening her body and taking in deep gulps of fresh air.
“This is a symptom of a claustrophobia attack. I’ll feel better once I’ve thrown up. I’m fine now, so I’ll take my leave
She spoke in a feeble voice, then, leaning against the wall, she slowly stood up.
Dragging her frail body step by step, she left the room.
Meanwhile, Waverly was already sobbing uncontrollably, hardly able to catch her breath.
“Dad, Mom, did I cause Raylee’s claustrophobia? Oh, I’m sorry…”
Harriet hurriedly comforted her, “Waverly, you’re not at fault. Don’t take all the blame onto yourself.”
Alaric also comforted her, “Your mother is right. Ever since Raylee came back, your tears have been relentless. Please, not more crying. It’s breaking my heart.”
As Raylee listened to the harmonious conversation of the family of three in the room, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of sorrow in her heart.
She quickened her pace to leave.
“Samuel, could you take Raylee to the hospital for a check–up? Let’s not mention this to your grandmother. I don’t want her
to worry
Alaric sighed deeply, giving his instructions.
“Understood, Dad.”
Immediately, Samuel chased after her.
“You’re claustrophobic. Why didn’t you mention it earlier? This way, we could have avoided any misunderstandings. It seemed like you were just giving us attitude!”
Samuel stood in front of Kaylee, immediately launching into a tirade without any explanation.
Kaylee stared at him coldly. “Didn’t I tell you as soon as I could? Mr. Goodridge, I informed you immediately after I
recovered.”
“What I mean is, you should have mentioned that when you just got out of jail That way, today’s surprise wouldn’t have turned into a shock!”
“So, are you implying that I need to apologize, Mr. Goodridge?”
Rayler looked at him, her eyes brimming with deep scorn.
Samuel was at a loss for words.
How could Raylee think of him in such a way? No matter what, he could never bring himself to demand an apology from her.
As he was lost in thought, Raylee had already moved past him and walked off into the distance.

“Wait. I’ll take you to the hospital right now.”
Samuel caught up to her, intending to offer her support.
Raylee dodged swiftly, unintentionally dropping her glove in the process.
Unintentionally, he made contact with her hand, which was covered in chilblains, swollen and red.
It was as cold as a block of ice.
Raylee withdrew her hand, maintaining a distance from him. Her tone was laced with aloofness.

“Mr. Goodridge, I don’t need to go to the hospital. Please stop following me. I just want to go back and rest at Grandma’s place
With a frosty tone, she firmly rejected him.
As soon as she finished speaking, she quickly left the Goodridge residence.
Samuel intently watched the limping figure ahead of him.
Her hand must be in a lot of pain.
She’s also covered in so many wounds…
Recalling how uncomfortable she had looked earlier due to her claustrophobia, Samuel felt his heart sink.
Following that, a heart–wrenching pain surged, stimulating every nerve in his body.
After her release from prison. Raylee was covered in wounds, both visible and hidden. She silently endured them all by herself.
He was truly heartbroken.
He, along with every member of the Goodridge family, intended to make it up to her.
However, why was her attitude so unyielding?
She was like a rock, tough and unyielding, impervious to any attack.
Samuel was both heartbroken and infuriated. He stomped harshly on the grass beneath him before turning around to head back inside the house.
Upon returning to Goodridge Manor, Raylee tactfully avoided discussing the events of the evening.
Vera assumed she had a grand time, which, in turn, lifted her spirits.
“Ray–Ray, can I share another piece of happy news with you?”
“Go ahead, Grandma.”
“Your mom has chosen a promising partner for you, and I must say. I find him quite impressive. So, I’d like you to meet him
tomorrow.”
Raylee frowned. Harriet chose a partner for me?
Recalling the warning that day at the hospital, she reckoned this so–called mother of hers couldn’t wait for her to get married off immediately.
That way, she wouldn’t be competing with Waverly for a man, right?
Observing her grandmother’s elated demeanor, Raylee didn’t have the heart to refuse.
“All right. I agree to so on this blind date Tell me the location tomorrow and I’ll be there”

Kaylee was feeling unwell and just wanted to rest, so the interrupted, saying, “As long as you think he’s good, then he must be excellent, Grandma I trust your judgment completely
“All right. All right You look really tired So, get some rest early Tomorrow, you need to be fully energized for the blinddate”
“Goodnight, Grandma.”
The following day, the driver dropped off Raylee at the location for her blind date
It was a Corvainan restaurant
Upon reaching the designated location, Kaylee caught sight of a familiar face.
She expressed her surprise. “Layla why are you here?”
Indeed, it was Layla, the second daughter of the Lorimer family, whom she had met just a couple of days agı
“Didn’t your mom and grandma tell you? The person you were set up with today is my older brother?”
Layla pointed to the seat across from her with a smile. “Go ahead and sit down. Have a look at what you’d like to eat, and then we can order”
Only then did Kaylee shift her gaze to the man standing next to Layla.
Layla’s brother was strikingly handsome, seemingly in his early thirties. He was clad in a love, lightweight sweater, his eyes sharp and charming. His features were perfectly sculpted, making him appear as if he had just stepped out of a fantasy novel.
Kaylee wasn’t one to be swayed by looks, but the striking attractiveness of the individual before her indeed caught attention, causing her to take a few more glances before she finally took a seat.
“Hello, Ms. Goodridge. My name is Jeremiah Lorimer,” the man introduced himself, politely extending his hand.
