Chapter 23 Marriage Is Serious
Raylee’s body seemed as if it had been immobilized, frozen in place.
Did Jeremiah actually pinch her nose with such affection!
In the past, it was only Samuel who often made this gesture toward her.
Later on, when Waverly returned, all of Samuel’s attention shifted to her.
Raylee had thought that no one would ever treat her this way in her life again.
“So, the question arises. Did you actually take a liking to me or not?” Jeremiah inquired, his gaze intensely focused on her, carrying a hint of allure.
Raylee felt her cheeks heat up under his intense gaze.
She lightly bit her lip, her adorable dimples sinking deeply i
She didn’t know how to answer this question.
“Silence? I’ll take that as a yes, then. The wedding will be set for two months from now.”
Jeremiah watched her calmly, his tone assertive, making decisions on his own accord.
Raylee was taken aback. “Two months from now? You’re planning a blitz marriage?”
“Is there a problem?”
“Do you realize that a blitz marriage is like a gamble? Such a short period of time simply isn’t enough for us to truly understand each other.”
“Do we really need to do that with marriage alliances like ours? If our elders deem it suitable, then it’s suitable for us.”
Jeremiah spoke in a casual tone, his mocking voice seemingly expressing his dissatisfaction with the marriage alliance.
This made Raylee feel even more uncertain.
Does he treat this blind date as if it were a marriage alliance?
*Mr. Lorimer, there’s no need for you to consider me as a potential marriage partner. Given your status, you would have far better options.”
“Better options? Like who?”
“For instance, choosing a proper lady from a prestigious family.”
“You’re not proper? Explain how you’re improper. Have you been involved with countless men?”
Jeremiah curled his lips, teasingly gazing at her.
The words almost made Raylee choke, her face flushed with embarrassment. Annoyed, she explained, “You’re the one who’s been with countless women. I’ve never even been in a love relationship!”
Although she was once engaged to Casimir, that aloof guy never even used to spare her a glance.
The two of them hadn’t even held hands before.
“We’re a perfect match. I’m still a virgin!” Suddenly, Jeremiah’s gaze grew intensely passionate.
Raylee was led astray by him. Feeling flustered, she retorted, “Bullsh*t! You’re blatantly lying. Who would believe that?”
“It’s fine. You can check on me whenever you want…”

Finished
With a blush coloring her face, Raylee interrupted. “Hold on! Hold on! Why are we even discussing this topic! Let’s stop right
now
Jeremiah chuckled with interest. “Ms. Raylee, you started the conversation. I was just going along with the discussion.”
Kaylee simply didn’t believe him.
She reckoned he had intentionally led her astray
Suppressing the urge to smack him on the head, she spoke with a somber expression.
“I’m being completely serious, not referring to those messy situations. I’m referring to the legitimate daughters born to the legal wives! And me, I’m just the fake daughter of the Goodridge family, nothing more than a lowly adopted daughter! The most devastating fact is that I can’t even consider myself an adopted daughter anymore because the Goodridge family severed all parental ties with me four years ago! My biological mother was a housekeeper, and my biological father was an unemployed vagrant with a gambling addiction! Mr. Lorimer, under these circumstances, do you think I still qualify to be your marriage partner!”
In response to Raylee’s self–deprecating remarks. Jeremiah simply stared at her intently
A moment later, he slowly began to speak. His handsome face, which had previously held a casual air, now bore a more serious expression
“Do you know that I’m an illegitimate child?”
Raylee nodded in agreement.
However, the illegitimate child of the Lorimer family still carried the Lorimer family’s bloodline.
Furthermore, he had already been acknowledged by the Lorimer family
During the meal, she also heard Layla mention that he was now serving as the CEO of Lorimer Group’s branch office.
He had a bright future.
Regardless, he was definitely out of her league.
Even if she could marry him, it would still be a union far beyond her reach.
“You’re an adopted daughter, and I’m an illegitimate son. We’re both in the same boat, so neither of us has the right to judge the other. Jeremiah said, raising an eyebrow in self–mockery.
“How can we even be compared Raylee emphasized to him.
“I have a criminal record. After serving time in prison, my health deteriorated significantly. It’s even possible that I might not be able to conceive. My status and my health are both pathetic. I’m even worse than an average person! You clearly have plenty of options. There’s no need to choose a social outcast like me, right?”
Jeremiah let out a deep sigh. “You seem to have a point,” he conceded.
“So, I’m not your only option.”
“Young lady, all problems can be solved if we find a way, right?”
Kaylee looked at him, feeling puzzled, still not quite grasping the meaning behind his words.
Yet, he began to speak slowly.
“Once you become my wife, you’ll be Mrs. Lorimer. Who would dare call you an ex–convict! As for pregnancy, with the advancements in modern medicine, we could consider options like IVF or even surrogacy. At the very least, we could adopt, or even I could choose not to have childrenL
Kaylee was flabbergasted.
Chapter 23 Marriage Is Serious
The spoken so poorly of myself
Not only does he not feel disdain toward me, but he’s even thinking of solutions!
The world has gone crazy, and nothing makes sense anymore
Just as Raylee was at a loss for words, Jeremiah suddenly moved closer.
His towering figure was like a wall, blocking all the sunlight from her sight.
When Raylee lifted her head, she found herself gazing into his deep set of eyes.
He gazed at her intensely, his eyes almost drowning her in their depths.
For the first time, Raylee felt the intense, overwhelming gaze of a man.
It encompassed a powerful presence, indulgence, compassion, and a touch of complex emotions.
