Chapter 26 A Blind Date
That mysterious yet romantic response left Raylee completely flustered.
She lifted her gaze, staring intently at the man
Her thoughts drifted back to fifteen years ago. She strained to recall something, yet she couldn’t remember anything.
Back then, Raylee was only seven or eight years old. Why would I have anything to do with Jeremiah back then?
Half an hour later, a Cullinan pulled up at the entrance of Goodridge Manor.
Jeremiah assisted Raylee in opening the car door.
After she came down, he straightened her collar and ruffled her hair. His gaze was deep when he said, “Wait for me. In two months. Ill make you my wife.”
Raylee’s face flushed, and she neither agreed nor voiced any objection.
At the same time, ten meters away, Samuel was walking toward Goodridge Manor.
He didn’t prepare the previous night’s welcome home ceremony adequately, resulting in Raylee’s claustrophobia acting up. Consequently, she had been uncomfortable for half the day, leaving him feeling a deep sense of guilt
Hence, he specifically bought Raylee’s favorite collectible figurine that day to apologize to her.
However, he witnessed Raylee stepping out of a luxury car with a limited edition license plate. The man standing before her was tall, and their interactions were intimate.
Who is that man? Samuel only caught a glimpse of the man’s retreating figure. Before he could get a good look at the man’s face, the man had already driven away.
In his frustration, he attempted to chase after the car, but he simply couldn’t catch up.
He stormed over to Raylee, questioning. “Who was that man you were just acting so intimate with? You’ve sure grown bold, daring to mess around with random guys from outside!”
Faced with his indiscriminate scolding, Raylee was also filled with anger. She retorted irritably, “He’s not a random guy! He’s my friend!TM
Samuel was overwhelmed with emotion, and his words of doubt burst forth like an onslaught of rapid–fire questions.
“Your friend? What friend? You just got out of prison. What kind of a friend could you possibly have? Even if he were your old friend, 1 should know him!”
“Mr. Goodridge, don’t you think you’re overstepping your boundaries? Who I choose to befriend is none of your business,” Raylee retorted coldly.
A chill spread across Samuel’s face. As though he had seized some evidence, he continued accusing her.
“I can’t even ask a question now, huh? From what I see, he must be your new sugar daddy, right? His license plate is not ordinary. He might even be a married man, Raylee. You’re actually willing to be a mistress! You’re utterly shameless!”
Raylee flew into a rage.
“Don’t you dare go overboard with your words! Just because your heart is tainted, it doesn’t mean everyone else is as corrupt as you!”
Samuel’s fury, however, continued to escalate.
“Are you flying into a rage out of humiliation? That means I’ve hit the nail on the head! Raylee, I never thought you would degrade yourself like this! You spent a few years in prison, but what of it? The Goodridge family hasn’t given up on you, so why are you sabotaging yourself?”

Finished
Raylee was so infuriated that she couldn’t even find the words to speak. One who wishes to find fault will have no trouble finding a pretert! My supposed brother caused me to spend four years in prison, and now, he’s slandering me with such despicable words!
In that fleeting moment, she was consumed by anger and overwhelmed with sadness.
Once upon a time, Samuel had been so tender and indulgent toward her.
He could stay by her side all day and night when she was sick, caring for her meticulously.
He would, for the collectible figurines she loved, fly overseas overnight to an auction, bidding high prices just to gift them to
her.
If anyone dared to lay a finger on her, he would be furious enough to wish he could bring retribution upon their ancestors.
However, everything changed after Waverly returned.
At first, it was just bias and neglect. At that moment, it had turned into intensified questioning and indiscriminate insults.
She could come to terms with him not loving her, but she couldn’t understand why he had to hurt her.
Raylee’s face was etched with disappointment, and she no longer had the energy to utter a single word of rebuttal. Turning around, she headed toward Goodridge Manor.
Samuel firmly grabbed her arm.
Due to the unexpected and excessive force, Raylee was caught off guard. She was yanked and harshly thrown to the ground,
She squinted her eyes, her voice cold with a hint of malice. “Samuel, isn’t it enough that you’ve insulted me? Are you also going to hit me now?”
Unlike before, she didn’t address him formally.
When she called him by his first name, their distance was stretched to the ends of the earth.
A flicker of confusion flashed across Samuel’s handsome face. Yet, when he thought of the distasteful deeds Raylee had done, his attitude remained assertive.
“Who asked you to go after a sugar daddy? If word were to get out, you would completely tarnish the reputation of the Goodridge family!”
“I severed ties with the Goodridge family a long time ago. If you’re worried about being humiliated, feel free to announce to the world through the newspapers that I’m not a part of the Goodridge family.”
Raylee struggled to her feet, a sharp, bone–deep pain radiating from her impaired leg. The pain was so intense that it made her break out in a cold sweat.
Just then, Vera heard some commotion. Assisted by her housekeeper, she made her way out.
In a fit of anger, she questioned, “Ray–Ray, how did you end up falling? Did this scoundrel bully you again?”
Raylee didn’t want Vera to know about what had just happened because she didn’t want her to worry. Despite her discomfort, she managed to force a smile and said, “No, Grandma. You’ve misunderstood. I just lost my balance and fell over.”
“Really?” Vera asked.
