Chapter 31 Apologize And Slap Yourself Five Times

As soon as she finished speaking, Waverly, in tears, threw herself in front of Raylee, pleading desperately. “Raylee, please! No matter what, don’t let Mr. Lorimer send Shanice to prison! If anyone should be blamed, it’s me! I was the one who upset you first. Yell at me, hit me if you want–I won’t fight back!”

She looked utterly fragile and innocent, a stark contrast to Raylee, who always carried herself with an air of arrogance. Waverly was the very picture of a delicate wallflower.

Samuel quickly pulled Waverly behind him, his touch a mix of tenderness and protectiveness. His voice was firm yet tinged with sorrow. “Wavy, you’ve done nothing wrong. Why should you apologize to her?”

Then, his gaze locked onto Raylee, his expression darkening with fury. “You don’t have to worry–neither you nor Shanice will be going to jail today. As long as I’m here, she won’t lay a finger on either of you!”

His words were laced with defiance as he glared at Raylee, his sharp, penetrating gaze as if he wanted to tear her apart. His voice carried a cold command, “You will pay for what you did today! First, you hit Shanice. You need to apologize and atone for your actions. And your atonement? Slap yourself five times!”

“Second,” he continued, “hand over the pink diamond Jeremiah gave you. I’m offering thirty million, based on its market price!”

Raylee was momentarily stunned.

Has Samuel completely lost his mind?

The first demand was already absurd enough–forcing her to punish herself. But the pink diamond? Jeremiah had spent one hundred and fifty million on it. Did Samuel really think he could just take it from her for a mere thirty million?

A smirk played on Raylee’s lips as she scoffed. “Mr. Goodridge, you might as well change your name to Shady Goodridge.”

She folded her arms and continued nonchalantly, “If you want to negotiate, go talk to Jeremiah. As for these auction items, I have no interest in any of them–except for Grandma’s ring.”

“Don’t use Jeremiah as a shield here! Samuel’s face darkened, and in a flash, he grabbed Raylee’s wrist, his grip tightening with force. The pain shot up her arm, making her brow furrow.

Casimir remained silent, watching. In his eyes, Raylee was getting too full of herself, relying on Jeremiah’s backing. If she wasn’t put in her place how, who knew what trouble she’d stir up next?

Raylee’s voice dropped to an icy tone, her words laced with warning. “Mr. Goodridge, if you don’t let go, I’ll scream. And when the Goodridge family’s reputation is ruined, don’t you dare blame me

A small crowd had gathered nearby, and a flicker of unease crossed Samuel’s otherwise handsome face.

Waverly, still crying, pleaded again, “Samuel, please let her go. If Mr. Lorimer sees this, he might have you arrested. Mom and Dad would be devastated!”

Samuel was already wary of Jeremiah, and Waverly’s words, while seemingly aimed at reconciliation, only added fuel to the fire. His resentment toward Raylee deepened.

Reluctantly, he released her, his expression cold as ice.

“Raylee, don’t think that just because you’ve grown up, you can do whatever you want! Your relationship with Jeremiah isn’t even set in stone, yet you think you can marry into the Lorimer family? People should know their place. If you don’t keep a low profile and insist on making waves, you won’t even see it coming when it all crashes down on you!”

Shanice added, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Seriously, she’s nothing more than a fake heiress with a criminal record, and she still dreams of marrying into the Lorimer family? What a jokel Besides, Jeremiah is just an illegitimate child. Who knows where he actually stands in the family? Marrying him–who’s to say life would be any good?”

Casimir, visibly irritated, cut her off. “Shanice, shut up. No one would mistake you for a mute if you kept quiet. Didn’t I tell you not to mess with the Lorimer family? Even gossiping about them is asking for trouble!”
