Halston noticed that Raylee seemed quite intrigued by Alfred, so he continued to speak in a hushed tone.
“Ever since Old Mr. Lorimer was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he was sent to a nursing home by his son. At first, his illness was manageable, and he was no different from a normal person. However, ever since he learned of Jeremiah’s death. his mind started to deteriorate. I’m sure you know, even the most luxurious nursing home can never truly feel like home The old man spends his days wallowing in the sorrow of losing his grandson, spiraling into a state of depression. His days are filled with nothing but sleep and vacant stares into the distance. My grandfather and him have been comrades–in–arms for decades. He couldn’t bear to see Old Mr. Lorimer being confined to a nursing home for the rest of his life, so he brought him here to live on the military base for his retirement.”
While listening, Raylee performed a set of warm–up martial arts moves.
The masked man had taught them to her. He had said that before practicing martial arts, one should first warm up with this set of movements. It could stimulate the body and help loosen one’s muscles.
Little did she know that when Alfred caught sight of her movements, he was greatly taken aback.
“Young lady, how did you come to learn this warm–up routine? I created it myself!”
“What?” Raylee asked in confusion. “You created it, Old Mr. Lorimer?”
“That can’t be. My boyfriend taught me this. He told me it’s a warm–up routine that his grandfather taught him. He also said they were created by his grandfather.”
Alfred exclaimed furiously, “His grandfather taught him and even invented it Bullsh*t, this is outright plagiarism! I’ve only ever taught this warm–up routine to my grandson, and no one else. Now that he’s gone, no one else knows these moves. Who’s your boyfriend? And who’s his grandfather? Tell them to come here. I want to see who has the audacity to shamelessly copy my warm–up routine!”
Baylee frowned in confusion.
It seems like I have stirred up trouble. Did I say something about the masked man that I shouldn’t have? No, that’s not the main point.
Alfred claims that he only ever taught his grandson this. At the same time, the masked man insists that it is his grandfather’s original work. Their grandfathers aren’t the same person. It can only mean one of them is lying, but who is?
Only Halston, who knew the truth, showed a change in his express
Inside, he was filled with smug satisfaction.
Well, well, Mr. Foucault, or should I say, Jeremiah, bet you didn’t expect Raylee to run into your grandfather, did you? Let’s see how you get out of this one!
Suddenly, Alfred fixed his gaze on Raylee and exclaimed, “I remember now, you’re my granddaughter–in–law!”
Raylee paused, looking at Alfred in surprise.
Alfred seemed as if he had taken a trip down memory lane, loudly declaring, “Back when my grandson was choosing his bride, he was immediately drawn to your picture, and so was I, I remember saying that you were a little thin but had a lovely face and was quite pleasant to the eye. So, you are my granddaughter–in–law! It’s a pity that my grandson passed away too soon. Otherwise, I would have had the chance to hold my great–grandson.”
In the end, Alfred sadly wiped away his tears.
Meanwhile, Raylee hadn’t heard anything about Jeremiah choosing a bride from among some photos, and it was impossible to tell if Alfred was telling the truth.
After all, she had never met Alfred before, nor had she ever heard Jeremiah mention him.
