Chapter 43 The Pink Diamond Is Hers

Raylee no longer paid any attention to the mother and daughter duo,

Matthew interjected, “Ms, Somers, among the auction items left by the poolside that night, one pink diamond is still missing. We reviewed the surveillance footage, and the prime suspects are Mr. Samuel Goodridge and Ms. Waverly Goodridge. How should we proceed, Ms. Somers?”

“Hand it over” Raylee’s gaze fell on Waverly.

“No, I didn’t steal the pink diamond, and neither did my brother. Raylee, we’ve been wrongfully accused,” Waverly vehemently denied.

Raylee didn’t bother to waste her breath.

The pink diamond was something that Mr. Lorimer had spent a whopping a hundred fifty million to acquire. If you refuse to hand it over, I’ll have no choice but to call the police. Since the item is so valuable, if you end up in jail, prepare to rot in prison

Upon hearing the words “rot in prison“, Waverly was immediately reduced to tears.

After a moment of contemplation, Harriet went to a drawer in her room and fetched a jewelry box, which she then handed. over to Kaylee.

“Mom, you’re innocent! Why are you taking the blame? I’m the one who stole the pink diamond. Let Raylee catch me!” Waverly cried as she threw herself into Harriet’s arms.

The two of them clung to each other, crying, reminiscent of a pair of star–crossed mother and daughter.

Rayler only felt the jewelry box in her hand was surprisingly heavy.

The pink diamond was not, in fact, taken by Harriet.

It was clearly a statement made out of spite.

But she didn’t even say she wanted to place blame on anyone.

Despite not having done anything wrong, she inexplicably found herself playing the villain.

This feeling was truly frustrating

“Raylee, you might as well turn me in!” Waverly pleaded. “Please spare Mom. She’s getting on in years, and she simply can’t handle the hardship of prison!”

Waverly, as if she had lost her mind, suddenly fell to her knees in front of Raylee, pleading for mercy.

“Who dares to call the police!”

Visibly agitated, Samuel stormed in from outside, his shoulder injury causing him to stagger and nearly fall.

Though he was preoccupied, upon hearing Raylee’s words, his face turned livid, as if his family had been raided.

Following behind was Alaric, his face equally ashen.

Raylee knew Waverly had picked the perfect moment to kneel down before her.

She truly wanted to place the blame on Kaylee.

“Waverly, I’m sorry for being late. You’ve been wronged” Sammel helped the kneeling Waverly to her feet, then directed an angry glare at Raylee.

“Are you taking advantage of the fact that there are no men at home? Are you here to bully Mom and Waverly? How dare you mention calling the police? Do you think just because you’re marrying into the Lorimer family, you’re suddenly above everyone else? That you can dismiss anyone without a second thought?”

Without showing any fear, Raylee retorted back at him, “So you guys were the ones who stole the pink diamond first, and you still have the audacity to deny it? The Goodridge family’s upbringing is truly impressive. They even argue when they’re in the wrong. So, when they’re in the right, do they strut around?”

“My head is spinning. Stop arguing already, you’re practically tearing the house apart with your noise…”

Harriet sat listlessly on the couch, weakly cradling her head.

“Mom, what’s wrong?”

“Mom! Are you alright?”

“Honey!”

Samuel, Waverly, and Alaric gathered around anxiously, showing their concern for Harriet.

In the family filled with warmth and mutual love, Raylee’s presence stood out strikingly.

Once Harriet was comforted, Samuel asserted strongly, “I’ll buy the pink diamond. A hundred and fifty million, huh? You’ll not get a penny less!”
