The Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9 The Truth

Upon seeing her savior arrive, Waverly, who had been in a daze, suddenly burst into tears, the very picture of distress and injustice.

Waverly, don’t worry. I’m here to rescue you!

Samuel immediately pulled Waverly into his embrace, gently soothing her by patting her back.

With his piercing black eyes, he glared at Raylee as if he could bore a hole in her face with his intense gaze.

Mindy, covering her swollen face, played the victim first. Samuel, you saw the video I sent you just now, didn’t you? Raylee had been persistently blaming Wavy in the private room. She held a grudge against Wavy, which led her to push Wavy down the stairs! This wicked woman nearly killed Wavy, and that wasn’t all, she even had the audacity to hit me! Just look at what she’s done to my face!

Waverly was sobbing so hard that she couldn’t catch her breath, tears streaming down her face.

I don’t blame Raylee for pushing me, but..she stammered. But she shouldn’t have hit anyone! Mindy is my best friend, and hitting her felt like hitting me. It’s so heartbreaking!

Her pitiful crying, coupled with her words, painted Raylee as the guilty party.

Raylee looked at the group with a cool gaze.

In stark contrast to the frantic accusations from Mindy and Waverly, she maintained an unsettling calmness.

Samuel’s expression turned somber as he questioned, Is that true? Raylee, did you try to harm Wavy? I demand the truth from you!

Do you believe me if I say no? I know you won’t, so speaking a hundred truths holds no meaning.Raylee responded. Her tone, a blend of nonchalance and cool composure, sent a chill down Samuel’s spine.

On the very first day of her release from prison, Raylee found herself reliving the nightmare from four years ago. Once again, she was wrongfully accused and set up by those around her.

Samuel’s inner rage turned into a deep bitterness. The words of reproach he intended to speak simply couldn’t make their way our

Raylee’s injuries seemed far more severe than Waverly and Mindy’s.

Her cheeks were bruised on both sides, and a fresh cut on her forehead indicated a recent injury.

In the past, her delicate nature would have caused her to fall into his arms, unable to hold back her tears.

He would definitely have had to comfort her for a long time before soothing her tears away.

she remained silent, refusing to complain. She exuded an unyielding stubbornness, ready to die rather than submit.

But now, sh

Noticing that Samuel remained silent, Raylee turned to Waverly. Her voice was tinged with anger as she said, You’re still the same as you were four years ago, deliberately setting traps for me. Why? Isn’t my life miserable enough? Is it because I lived. the good life in your stead for eighteen years that you target me relentlessly?

Waverly’s sobbing abruptly halted, and she stared blankly at her. No, Raylee, I didn’t set you up

Whether you did or not, I don’t care anymore. I won’t let you frame me as you did four years ago!Raylee let out a sarcastic chuckle. She then turned her gaze to Samuel, her eyes gleaming with a hint of contempt for him. Believe it or not, I’m only going to clarify this once. Your dear sister fell down the stairs, and it was me, quick on my feet, who acted as a human cushion to save her! If you don’t believe me, Mr. Goodridge, the wound on my head serves as proof, and so does the surveillance above your head! Four years ago, you forced me into submission, but four years later, I won’t give you another chance to falsely accuse or hurt me!

After she finished speaking, she turned around and left.

Her resolute figure was like a gust of wind, leaving without a trace of attachment.

Finished

Samuel watched as she limped away and disappeared around the corner of the staircase. It took him quite a while to n his composure.

His heart felt as if it was being gradually torn apart by a sharp blade, filled with pain and fear.

He could distinctly feel that he was gradually losing the sister with whom he had shared his life for eighteen years.

I didn’t say I didn’t believe her, did I

An inexplicable restlessness stirred within him.

Watching Waverly sobbing pitifully only deepened his frustration. But he didn’t show it.

He

asked with concern, Are you okay? Did you get hurt from the fall? I’ll take you to the hospital.

After the doctor’s examination, the only injury Waverly had sustained was a cut on her finger from a shard of a broken wine

bottle.

Despite this, falling down the stairs had left her quite shaken. Samuel insisted on having her stay in the hospital for

observation

Afterward, he went to the bar to retrieve the surveillance footage.

Coincidentally, the manager mentioned that the stairway surveillance was broken.

Of all the times it could have broken, why now?

Samuel couldn’t believe it. After a series of threats and temptations, the bar manager finally gave in.

Mindy had given him money, instructing him to erase the surveillance footage,

Samuel took the surveillance footage that the manager didn’t get to delete to Mindy and confronted her. Why did you falsely accuse Raylee of pushing Waverly down the stairs?”

Mindy nervously retorted, II didn’t falsely accuse her. I just misjudged the situation. The lighting was dim at that time, and Raylee and Wavy were having a heated argument inside the private room. You saw the video too, didn’t you? It’s only natural that I misunderstood
