Chapter 4
After returning from the trip, I felt constantly fatigued, and food tasted like sawdust.
Initially, I paid it no mind.
Until the inexplicable vomiting began, and I had a terrible premonition.
Sitting on a bench outside the examination room, I dialed Ethan’s number with trembling
hands.
“Ring… Ring…”
Three unanswered calls.
Just before hanging up, Ethan’s impatient voice finally came through: “What’s up?”
In the background, I heard the sound of fabric rustling, followed by Isabella’s sugary,
“Gentle…”
Whatever I wanted to say twisted on my tongue and was swallowed back down.
I hung up without a word.
Instead, I dialed another number I knew by heart.
This time, the call connected quickly
“Olivia?” The cool, familiar voiceerd
e me want to cry.
“Metropolitan Hospital Center, Obstetrics Department. Come sign something for me…”
Riley frowned as he listened to the doctor’s diagnosis.

“Ms. Gray has taken too many emergency contraceptives. The embryo’s implantation is already difficult. If you terminate now, conceiving again will be challenging…”
The elderly doctor shook his head, sighing, strongly advising me to keep the baby.
Riley’s signing hand ultimately hesitated.
He led me out of the examination room.
“What are you doing?” I didn’t understand his actions.
“Don’t you want to reconsider? After all, it’s your own flesh and blood.”
“I would rather die than have Ethan Foster’s child.”
I answered with reddened eyes, stubbornly.
“Whose child would you rather have? Your old flame’s?”
Ethan’s ice–cold voice echoed behind me, and my heart plummeted…
Back home, Ethan roared like an enraged lion, smashing everything in sight.

Those eyes, burning with fury, stared at me fiercely, as if wanting to devour me alive.
“You fucking betrayed me!”
He raised his hand and slapped me hard, the taste of rust spreading in my mouth.
“If the hospital director hadn’t told me

Like an irrefutable judge, he decided my future with casual words.
“No! This is illegal detention!”
“You’re insane! Let me go!”
Emotions spiraling out of control, I screamed hysterically, tears falling like broken beads.
However, what answered me was an iron chain around my ankle as thick as a wrist.

Locked up by Ethan, I could only stare blankly at the small garden.
The window before me became my only connection to the outside world.
The sunshine was beautiful, but I felt no warmth.
