Chapter 6
I had no idea Ethan was looking for me everywhere.
By then, I’d taken Alex back to our hometown.
Away from the people and events of San Francisco, the peaceful small town gave me endless inspiration.
I turned off my phone, cutting off all contact with the outside world, focusing on my design
sketches.
I heard news of Ethan again through his assistant.
He had found me.
He told me that Ethan had been searching for me, practically turning the entire city upside
down without finding a trace.
Hearing this, I only felt mockery.
I opened my phone and showed his assistant the news notification I’d received that
morning. “What does he want me for? To attend his wedding?”
“Sir, he just…”
The assistant was at a loss for words. He didn’t understand either.
Ethan searched for Olivia every day, asking about her the moment he woke up.
So why would he suddenly announce his engagement to Faye at such a critical moment?
“No need to explain for him. There’s no point. Go back,” I said, then added after a pause,
“Give him a message from me.”
“Congratulations on your marriage.”
Sincere blessings.

Chapter 6
Even though our contract marriage didn’t end gracefully, I genuinely wished him happiness.
The assistant wanted to say more, but Alex came out and sent him away.
He believed I had given five years of my youth in exchange for five hundred thousand dollars–a transaction.
The transaction was over. I deserved my freedom.
What I didn’t expect was that three days later, when I returned to San Francisco, Ethan
would be waiting for me at the airport.
He wore a black trench coat, looking steady and stern, standing amid a group of bodyguards.
His deep gaze fell on me, carrying countless emotions.
It was the first time I’d experienced such a grand gesture.⚫
In the bustling crowd, various gazes fell on me–surprise, envy…
Too bad I was never the protagonist in Ethan’s life.
“So you decided to come back?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, somewhat mockingly.
I finally looked up, meeting his gaze. “I believe I have the right to decide where I go.”
“You’re my wife. Where else would you go but home?!”
“Wife? We both signed the contract back then, and the divorce agreement has taken effect. Ethan, don’t tell me you’ve forgotten.”
He frowned, silent for a moment.
“The contract’s just ended, we can renew it. How much do you want? Five hundred
wy
thousand? A million? Name your price!”
I found it somewhat amusing. “I’ve already sold five years of my life. I don’t want to live bound without freedom, always revolving around someone else.”
