The Kiss that Sparked it All (Ellinor and Theo) novel Chapter 2802

"Easy there. Just stick close to me and don't do anything rash, okay?" Nolan spoke in a hushed tone, his eyes darting to the door that was moments from bursting open.

Regina nodded furiously, her heart pounding in her chest. Nolan's words echoed in her mind like a mantra as the heavy door finally gave way under their combined effort.

There, standing behind a wall of his lackeys, was Domingo, his smug gaze locking onto Nolan who was now standing protectively in front of Regina.

Nolan met Domingo's stare with an unreadable expression, while Regina discreetly sized up the man who seemed shorter than she had imagined but radiated a menacing aura, like someone who had been through the wringer a few times too many.

"Well, well, Mr. Harris, bringing your sweetheart to my turf for a little PDA, are we?" Domingo taunted, his tone dripping with condescension.

Nolan held his silence, prompting Domingo to push further.

"Ever heard the saying, 'public displays of affection get you a fast track to the breakup'?"

Laughter erupted from his crew, who looked at Nolan and Regina as if they were fish in a barrel.

"Cat got your tongue, Mr. Harris? Or perhaps you've forgotten me?"

Domingo's hard edge contrasted sharply with his self-deprecating words, and Regina had to stifle a laugh.

"I haven't forgotten," Nolan replied coolly. "After all, you've set quite the trap for me."

"You're still wet behind the ears, Mr. Harris. It's not a trap; consider it a rite of passage."

His smile was serene, but it only served to infuriate Domingo, who couldn't believe Nolan wasn't taking him seriously. Did Nolan not realize whose turf he was on?

"Let's not play dumb, Mr. Harris. You've been a thorn in my side, and now that you've landed in my lap, you should've seen this coming."

"But don't worry," Domingo continued with a hint of false benevolence. "I've mellowed with age, no longer the brute I once was. No need for a messy scene. I'll ensure you and your girl have a tidy departure, so you can play lovebirds in the hereafter."

With each word, Domingo and his men closed in on Nolan and Regina. They stepped back, Nolan's brow furrowed in thought, convinced Domingo wouldn't dispatch them so hastily. There had to be a bigger play at hand.

Was it all just a bluff? Regina was trembling, but in a desperate move, she pushed past Nolan and faced Domingo.

"What kind of hero do you think you are?" she spat out defiantly. "You're nothing but a schemer who's ruined lives and now stands there spouting nonsense. Your hands are stained with the blood of countless innocents. Karma will find you!"
